Our October 13th 2007 Wedding!!! Milleridge Carriage House, Patken, Maximus, Wedding Cinema, Royalty Limo, and DIY Projects

Our Wedding
October 13th, 2007

I have not posted much on here but I have definitely used reviews for ideas and inspiration. I wanted to put a review up of my wedding and hopefully it will help others. I did not grade anyone because overall we had a great day. FM me any questions about my vendors

Ok so here it goes.....

Wedding Dress-
The Wedding Center, Commack NY
Yes I know..everyone thinks this place is dreadful. They may not have the best customer service but they have a million dresses there in every size. Some other shops just had samples in size 2 and I really wanted to see myself in the dress before buying it. I fell in love with my Jasmine...it was the first dress I tried on and the wedding dress I have always imagined myself wearing. I did not do any alterations here, I just ordered my dress and picked it up when they called me.

Veil and Tiara-
Baron's in Tri County, Levittown NY
I had a great experience there. They listened to what I wanted and were very patient. I may have tried on every tiara before deciding. I went in a few months before to change my veil and they were very accommodating. I would recommend them.

Alterations-
Amy's Couture Alterations, Syosset NY
I asked one of the ladies who fit me for my long line bra and Mary's Corsetiere's if she knew of someone who did great wedding dress alterations. She recommended Amy. Amy was fabulous. She really made me feel comfortable in my dress and was very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend her.

Bridesmaid's Dresses-
David's Bridal
I picked the color..chocolate brown and I let my girls pick the dress. Having been a bridesmaid many many times..I wanted them to feel comfortable. They did a great job. They picked a cstrapless dress which looked like it was pulled to the side with a nice broach. My husband had a grooms woman who wore the same dress as the bridesmaids in black. It worked out well. The girls live all over and it was easy for them to go into any David's and order and pick up their dress.

Tux's-
Men's Warehouse
Again, because the groomsmen lived in several different states my husband picked out the tuxes and the guys went into their local store to be measured and ordered. The great thing about Men's Warehouse is that the tuxes can be dropped off at any store. The guys all left them and my dad dropped them off at one store on Monday.

Hair and Make Up-
Maximus, Westbury NY
This has been a little tradition within my group of friends to get hair and make up here for the wedding day. They are so professional and just good. I mean you may spend a little more money but your hair and make up will stay all day....They have a special bridal section where we all were able to get ready together. Suselie did my hair and Dina did my make up. I had a trial with each of them. My husband and I also went for massages here the day before our wedding...we were really tense by that time and it was so relaxing and we were able to spend a little alone time before our rehearsal and the whirlwind of the wedding began. I am glad we did that.

Church-
Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Hicksville NY
This is my home church. I made all of my sacraments there. For sentimental reasons I had my wedding at Holy Family. It is not the most beautiful church on LI or the most reasonably priced in my opinion. But I was surprised how nice the church looked on my wedding day. They had made some improvements in the year between booking it and my wedding day. The priest Father Henry was great and gave an amazing homily. The organist and singer sounded beautiful. All in all I am happy that I was married there.

Limo-
Royalty Limosines, Franklin Square NY
These guys were great. We had a Rolls Royce and a Chrysler 300 Stretch Limo. The drivers were amazing. They made sure that we had everything we needed and thought of everything. The price was reasonable and the service was excellent.

Photography-
Patken Photography, Lindenhurst NY
Our photographer was Jesse. She was very talented and fun. She had us cracking up all day. When I saw my proofs...I cried. She took really beautiful photos. She asked us throughout the day if there was anything else we wanted shots of....My advice is to make a list of your must have photographs, because during that day when you are just so happy and in the moment it's hard to remember. I was able to see my proofs shortly after my honeymoon and my family was able to see them online. Tammy is so nice and heIped me narrow down pictures and design my album. I was very happy with them.

Video-
Wedding Cinema, Bohemia NY
At first we were not going to do a video, but my friends kept saying how they watch theirs every year and how important they felt it was to have. So we decided to do a very 'bare bones' video, just as something to remember our special day. We met with Pete and he was great. He let us pick and choose what we wanted and was able to work with us on price. A week before the wedding he called and asked if we minded having a different videographer because he had another wedding and for changing things he would upgrade our video. We said that was fine with us and instead of Pete we had Danny. This guy was so nice. I felt like I have known him my whole life. He spent the entire day with us and worked so hard. I don't think there is a moment of my wedding he missed...we also now have a 7 hour raw footage video to watch. My mom had to go over to him and tell him to put his camera down and eat. Seriously we couldn't have asked for more. My video came out great and we have watched it so many times already. I definitely recommend a video of some kind..just find someone who will work with you on price. I am so glad I decided to get one.

Flowers-
Milleridge Florist
My centerpieces (1 dozen roses) were included with the 4 star menu we picked. I went to them and added green hydrangeas to each centerpiece just to fill them out a little more. They were simple and classy. All of the flowers, corsages, bouts, etc were fresh, beautiful, on time, and lasted all day and night. The staff was great. Sara sat with us for hours going through each bo-k and pew ribbon. They were very knowledgeable and able to make recommendations based on the time of year and overall look I wanted for the wedding. I made changes up to the last week before the wedding and they were nothing but accommodating.

DJ-
All Occasion DJ, Floral Park NY
I always knew that when I got married i would use this DJ. Mark the owner is a friend of a very good friend of mine and has done every one of my friends weddings. He is great..not to loud and talkative on the mic and they play great music. I didn't sit down once and the dance floor was packed. He was very easy to work with and played my requests. He helped me pick songs for the parents and bridal party to come into. So many people came up and said what a great time they had and what great music he played. I know he isn't a vendor you hear alot of on this site but his prices are low compared to others and quality is top notch. He checked in with us throughout the night and made a nice announcement when my husband wanted to dedicate a song to me. I couldn't have asked for more and would highly recommend him.

Reception-
Milleridge Inn Carriage House
If you are having a smaller sized wedding, this is a great spot. We decided that we wanted to just have close friends and family at our wedding and ended up having 75 people. As I visited all of the places that would do a smalled wedding I started to cry. Some popular venues told us over the phone they could accommodate us but when we showed up to see the room, it would be in half of their bar area or in the basement with no windows...I started crying. A friend had told me about the carriage house where her mother had her second marriage. We made an appointment and I fell in love. First of all it's private and it's own building. It is rustic and inn like with hardwood floors, so many windows and a tented area outside for a cocktail hour. It was perfect for us. The service and food at the Milleridge were excellent. People could not stop raving about the food. I wish we could have been guests at our own wedding. We opted for the 4 star Menu with an ice sculpture, raw bar, Viennese hour, surf and turf for dinner. They were phenomenal.

DIY Projects
There were some things I did myself to save some money...I am happy that I was able to be creative and contribute to the overall theme of my wedding. Also, having things and projects to do really helped me keep my sanity.

Thanks for reading my review!!!!
