Review: Flowerfield, Prestige Catering, Twelfth Night, Lovin' Oven Florists, Tommy's Tunes

It is so cliché to say, but the wedding really was the best day of my life. All the hard work paid off and I really don’t have much to complain about. I could not have done it without LIWeddings, though! So, here it is:

Health – F
Both DH and I were sick. I managed to put it aside during the wedding and had a lot of fun, but we ended up missing our honeymoon.


Weather – B+
We were married in February, but the weather really was ok. It was cold of course, got a little cloudy later on, but it really was nice, especially in the morning. We even have some outside pictures! And there were some swans and geese skating on the ice!


Reception Hall
Flowerfield – A++++++++++
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Flowerfield. The place is so gorgeous, the service unbelievable. Everything I could have wanted was provided. The bridal attendant, was amazing beyond my wildest dreams. She really made things move smoothly. The maitre’d was in total control. My banquet manager was very responsive. I cannot rate Flowerfield’s food, though, because the catering was done by an outside caterer b/c I wanted kosher food. It really was the perfect choice after seeing 17 or 18 catering halls. We were married in the indoor atrium, but when seeing pictures, people wonder if our wedding was outside. I loved everything about Flowerfield.

Caterer
Prestige Kosher Catering – A++++++++
The food was unbelievably delicious. And there was so much food. I was nervous about this, but it really turned out fantastic. And we got to take home leftovers! We worked with Alan Schoenfeld and he really came through for us. There were a couple of minor bumps before the wedding, but I stayed on top of all the vendors before the wedding and it really payed off. I would use Prestige Catering again in a heartbeat!

DJ
Tommy’s Tunes – A+
We had only one man running the show (Dan), but it was all we needed. I was concerned b/c when I called the DJ a week before the wedding he didn’t know who I was. I also had an appointment with him, and he acted like he knew who I was when I walked in, but then he asked “Who are you here to see?” However, he really did a fantastic job. With the exception of one minor mistake, he did exactly what he said he would: feel out the crowd and play music to get them dancing! Not an easy task on a Sunday afternoon in February.

Florist
Lovin' Oven - A+++++

I loved my flowers. I didn't expect to rave about flowers so much, but they really were gorgeous beyond my dreams. I loved the cake, the centerpieces, my bouquets.....Keyth did a great job and was surprisingly reasonably priced.

Dress
Macy’s Department Store – A+
My wedding dress was just a white gown!! I saved A LOT of money and suggest to all brides to check out the department stores before buying a wedding dress b/c some white gowns are gorgeous and much less expensive. I put a crinoline slip under the dress and had money left over for a gorgeous cathedral veil and Swarovski accessories, not to mention a beautiful bolero jacket. I brought the dress in to Angel’s Bridal to be altered.

Dress Alterations
Angel’s Bridal – A
I was happy with the way the dress turned out, but the alterations were pretty simple and the cost seemed a little expensive, although I know that alterations generally are expensive, especially if you don’t buy the dress at the dress shop. But the dress looked gorgeous. The bustle was perfect and stayed up all night (luckily the bridal attendant did it on the day of the wedding b/c I would not have had the first idea about what to do). However, the seamstress left in a few loose pins on the bottom of the dress, which could have caused some damage if I didn’t see them.


Bolero Jacket
Huntington Bridal Suite – A
The bolero was beautiful, but it came in a little later than I thought it would. But it worked out in the end.

Photography – Twelfth Night – A-
I love the pictures that were taken. Some are absolutely gorgeous. I love the DVD with the pictures and music. It is breathtaking. However, although there were many pictures taken before the ceremony and during the ceremony, not many pictures were taken of the reception (other than the hora) and the guests. I am pretty disappointed about this, but luckily we have a wonderful video. Also, it took a while to get the pictures back, but this was not such a big deal to me. I would use them again, I would just be very very specific with what I wanted.

Video – Travis from Mittermax – A+
I love our video. The music, the footage, everything. There was an issue with the sound at a couple of points on the DVDs, but Travis fixed it right away and gave me all new DVDs. I have only good things to say about our video (although I don’t think I will ever watch our hora again, but that is just because of bad dancing, not the quality of the video)

Holiday Inn Express – B
The hotel was ok, but the TV did not work in the bridal suite. The bridal suite was nothing special, and the day after our wedding the cleaning woman came in our room twice while we were still in bed. But the hotel served its purpose and we got some money back for the broken TV.

We saved money by not using any limos and do not regret this decision one bit.
