Review of 9/17/05 Wedding in Montauk

Dress: Bridal Reflections A-
I wore the Maggie Sottero Topaz and absolutely loved it. I worked with Mary Lou and she was honest and helpful. My only drawback is that the single button holding my bustle popped off during my reception and it was a bit hard dancing and holding my dress up at the same time. I recommend a sturdier approach! Insist on it!

Officiant: Father Frank, Good Shepherd Church A+
To have a priest come to a site for the ceremony is a joy and I am thankful for his journey.

Photography: Millimeter (Paul Marino Photography) A+++++
I didn’t want to give anyone more than an A+ but I couldn’t help myself. He traveled to Gin Beach to picture the WHOLE NINE YARDS of a bridal party (my hubby had 11!!!!). What a gorgeous setting. Thank you, Mother Nature. After seeing the 982 proofs, I was speechless. Michael captured my day like no one I imagined ever could. If I had my druthers, he’d be booked every weekend with a happy bride.

Videographer: Motion Pictures Inc. A+
I haven’t seen the video yet, but his narrative approach from my thoughts throughout and my hubby’s makes me yearn to hear what he said. I am so desperately looking forward to listening to my husband’s thoughts as he dressed, prepared to meet me, after our vows, and during our reception. Motion Pictures interviewed us and I have never seen that before.

DJ: DJ Tops (Mike) A+
I couldn’t have asked for a more attentive and enthusiastic DJ. He played everything I asked for (the night before) and he was MOST affordable. Here’s to you, DJ Tops! You kept my guests dancing all night long.

Cocktail Music: Arkane Music Jazz Ensemble A
Honestly, I didn’t hear them on my day but I had heard them at our favorite restaurant and knew we wanted them to play for us.

Caterer: Cherrywood Pizza Restaurant in Wantagh A+
From the REAL lemon sorbet to the most amazing filet mignon, all appetites were appeased. I couldn’t have asked for more!

Cake: Montauk Bake Shoppe: A
We wanted chocolate cake and we got it! It was to die for! I just wish I had remembered to take the remaining cake with me, but I was so upset with the reception site owner that I left without my cake. What a bummer!

Hair/Makeup: Joanne from Pampered on the Pond in Montauk A+
All I know is that my husband-to-be said in tears, “Wow, you should go to the salon every day.” Hee hee. Bad move on a husband’s part : ) but he was right. She was a miracle worker.

Tent: New York Tent and Party Rental A
The morning of our special day, my hubby-to-be realized we needed more flooring to cover OPHELIA’s trail. So they came and installed more that morning. Thank goodness!

Party Rental: A to Z Rentals A+
From periwinkle napkins to the 72” tables, they were perfect for all my needs. Thank you, MacKenzie. He really knows what a party needs.

Rehearsal Dinner: Manucci’s Restaurant in Montauk A+
Wow! Dinner was delicious and the service was perfect. It was a wonderful prelude to our wedding day. Thank you, Ray.

Individual Silk Flowers purchased from Philips Silk Floral in Hicksville A-
Great prices but selection was not as I would have liked.

Boutonnieres: Oriental Trading A
I couldn’t find cheaper starfish anywhere!

Centerpiece Vases: Maces A+
I paid $2.00 for each vase and some were $1.50. I went to every Maces in Suffolk and Nassau to get my over 40 vases! What a bargain!

Sand Dollars, Fishermen’s netting, seashells: Ebay, Wal Mart, and nauticalseasons.com A
I searched and searched for the cheapest prices, and I think I did rather well! The average price I paid per centerpiece was about $5.00!!!!!

Favors: Scholastic.com and Invitations by Dawn A+
The book of love poems and the bookmark have made an everlasting impression on my guests. I hope they use them both well.

Ceremony/Reception: MLC F
Currently, I am disputing charges made to my account by the proprietor. I wouldn’t want any bride or groom to go through what I went through the day before my wedding, minutes before my ceremony start, and the day after. If I had focused on his unprofessional business ethics and his improper practices, it would have potentially ruined my day. But I put it aside to deal with after the event. And so now I am dealing with a potential suit. If you want to know the place, Fan Mail me. I’ll gladly spread the truth. Thankfully, there are better people in the world.

Valet: Charles McArdle Consulting, Inc.
34 Gardenia Ave, Hampton Bays, NY FFF
Unfortunately, my guests had things disappear from their cars during the wedding. I had totally blocked this out and just realized I never reviewed the valet. What a shame.
