Vendor Review: deSeversky Center, Perceptions Photography/Anthony Vasquez, HOT Studio/Sudeep Kanwal, Syndicate Productions/George Corluka, Designs by Rose, Leonetti's, The Party Ride

It takes a great team to work together to make things work and come together for any wedding. I have to admit that I had the best team working with me for mine and my husband's wedding. If you need to contact me to further elaborate on any points, please email me at [email protected]. Below is my review of all the vendors that worked on mine and my husband's wedding:


Reception Hall: deSeversky Center - A+

We had our reception at the deSeversky Center on NYIT campus. My main contact, Debbie Rhodes, was there for us from the very beginning. She was completely accomodating to me, my questions, and my freak outs. Most of our correspondences were done via email, but her response time was great and she always answered any and all of my questions and concerns. Our communication helped pave the way to a smooth wedding day.

I also have to add that our maitre'd, Terrence, was nothing short of incredible on the day of the wedding. He had everything under control and was always there whenever we needed anything. He went above and beyond his call of duty, and it really helped the reception go by without a hitch. When I was stuck because the bustle on my train didn't hold up to all of the dancing, Terrence was right there to help me fix it. He was sharp, organized, and on top of everything. This, too, can be said for the entire staff, who were so helpful and knew how to work with my guests who weren't necessarily familiar with the hall and having cocktail hour in one room, dancing and dinner in another room, and dessert in another room. The service was impeccable and the staff was friendly and timely. The only thing that was lacking was the bridal attendant. We were supposed to have a bridal attendant, however, I do not recall him being there on our day. However, with Terrence there, everything was taken care so it really did not affect how things went that day.

The food was DELICIOUS. I got so many compliments on how good the food was--and one guest even told me that this food was the best food he ever had at any wedding, hands down. The food was definitely well-prepared, fresh, tasty and plentiful.

My experience with deSeversky was beyond top-notch. From the staff to the decor to the chef, deSeversky has been exceptional in every respect.

Photography: Perceptions Photography/Anthony Vasquez - A+

There aren't enough good things that I can say about having Anthony as our wedding photographer! Not only is he talented and his work remarkable, but he is a professional who truly knows how to roll with the punches. He was an absolute joy to have photograph our wedding--he made me feel completely relaxed and comfortable (despite all the craziness that went on throughout the course of the day). He definitely knew how to handle and work with a rowdy and 'lively' bridal party, and it was just awesome to see him work in his element.

The dialogue was definitely open and fluid between us and it made it that much easier to feel relaxed and confident in his work. Anthony definitely has an eye for the aesthetic and for beauty; he knows how to photograph detail, emotion, and truly has a way of capturing the story of the wedding day. Anthony was absolutely fabulous in every way, shape, and form you could ever want your wedding day photographer to be!

Videography: House Of Talent Studios/Sudeep Kanwal - A+

Sudeep is one of the best videographers out there. He was very involved and hands on in the entire process of making the wedding video. He really listened to what me and my husband had envisioned our video to be and really took the time and asked questions as to what we wanted. The video delivered that vision and more. He really captured the spirit of the wedding day and was able to capture candid moments that a lot of other videographers would have missed.

The editing was fantastic and the flow of the video was definitely in keeping with the music. What was impressive about all of these elements coming together is that Sudeep really had to work in an environment that definitely wasn't conducive to filming. A lot of my guests were on the dance floor and things would get pretty tight. But what's funny is that Sudeep got all these great shots with a steady hand and never once did we even notice him in the room--and I mean that as a good thing! He managed to get around and get all these great shots, but you would have never known he was there.

The end video was shot very well and we couldn't be happier with Sudeep, his staff, and their professionalism!

Music: Syndicate Productions/George Corluka - A+

I must have drove my DJ absolutely crazy during the weeks leading up to the wedding with all my lists and emails, but George was absolutely the best in handling my questions, and believe me, I had thousands of them. In the end, he had everyone on the dance floor (even my husband's grandparents, who are in their 70s!). His music was varied (he played everything from some oldies to disco to contemporary hits to Spanish music to Croatian music) and he definitely knew what to play to keep all my guests on the dance floor. He knew how to balance all these different types of music together and that isn't easy, but he managed to do it to create an awesome flow to the party.

Florist: Designs By Rose - A+

What I loved most about our florist was that it was a family business and Rose and her mother, Doris, were nothing but incredible people who knew how to guide my vision and who knew which flowers would work best for the wedding. They always were accomodating to my ideas and my thoughts; in time and when I really needed to let their guidance, they offered a lot of valuable advice and really steered me in the right direction. Sometimes you need to step back and let other ideas breathe and mesh with your own. And both Rose and Doris were definitely able to do that.

Rose has such a knack and such a talent for what she does. I always loved visiting her studio and showroom because I knew that when I went there, I would see great centerpieces that she was working on for other brides. They were always beautiful and truly inventive. The centerpieces (as well as the bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres) that she created for our wedding were so elegant and really reflected the tone and ambiance we wanted for our wedding. The flowers were fresh and lasted all day. A lot of the guests took the flowers home and many of them told me that they never had flowers that lasted so long.

Designs by Rose was such a pleasure to work with in every aspect of planning for this part of a wedding. I have recommended them any time a friend or family member said they needed a florist. Their work is exceptional and the work that they produce is absolutely gorgeous.

Cake: Leonetti's - A+

The one thing that I kept hearing over and over again on my wedding day was how delicious the wedding cake was. My guests couldn't get enough of it and they were taken aback that a wedding cake actually tasted good. Saverio is one talented baker who knows his craft and who makes a truly tasty cake. The cake was moist and the filling was to die for! The design of the cake was nothing short of stunning--and was edible to boot!

Me and my family froze the cake and a week later, we took it out and had it for dessert. It was still tasty, still beautiful, and it was absolutely a testament to Saverio's work and his talent as a baker.

Limos: The Party Ride - A+

What a blast it was to have a limo bus for our wedding! I had a lot of guests that came from out of town that I needed to transport to and from the wedding and having The Party Ride there with their limos was the best decision me and my husband made. The buses were clean, the drivers were fantastic and everyone had a great time in roomy buses.

I think what really showed the true professionalism of this company and its staff was when one of the buses did, unfortunately, break down just as we were leaving the church. Without having to worry about anything, we were able to get everyone on to one bus that took half the guests back to my home (which is where my family needed to be) and the other half (me and my bridal party) to the reception hall and we still made it on time (and mind you, this was on a Friday afternoon with traffic and they had to drive all the way from Astoria to Old Westbury!). They also brought back an extra bus at the end of the night for me and my family, which really was an added thing that they did which they didn't have to do.

The Party Ride was definitely great to work with and their staff were so helpful and so friendly. It was the best decision that me and my husband made for the wedding.

Thank you so much for the fantastic review and congrats to you!! I recently visited the De Seversky Center and fell in LOVE with it! I really have my heart set on the place, but my fiance has a very traditional Italian family and he is worred that they will be confused/ uncomfortable with having to switch rooms for cocktail, dinner, dancing and dessert.
Did any of your guests have a hard time with this? Did the transistions move seamlessly? Was there any or enough seating during the dancing portion of the reception? Did you find that many of the guests left the reception during the dessert hour?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
