Finally My 9/17 Lombardi's on the Sound Review w/Pics**UPDATED 11/20 WITH LOMBARDI ISSUES RESOLVED**
***UPDATE***11/20 A few weeks ago I finally heard from my party planner at Lombardi's that my cake was in fact the wrong flavor, chocolate when it should have been yellow cake. They offered to make me another top to my cake to freeze for our anniversary. I asked if they could just make it fresh for me next year and I was told NO. I was not happy about that but I will be picking up my new cake when I am home from Christmas. As for the 6 meals that they were to give us to take home that night and didn't they are also making those for us while we are home. So we will pick up the meals and the cake and have dinner and dessert for the family one night. As for the other stuff it really wasn't addressed which I was disappointed about but I am so over it at this point that I am done arguing.I did fill out a questionnaire that they sent regarding my wedding and attached a long letter addressed to one of the Lombardi's asking them to call me to discuss the issues I had at my wedding. That was over 6 weeks ago and I have yet to receive a phone call.
So they did admit their mistakes but weren't all that sorry and I really just think that they just hang on to the reputation that they have and really don't feel the need for personal service.
My wedding was still everything I dreamed of and I still wish I could do it all again.
Villa brides you really will have a fabulous wedding just pay no mind to their lack of people skills.
**************************************
Let me start by saying that my wedding day was the most magical day of my life. It really was everything I wanted and my only real regret is that it went by so fast. I could never understand how brides could say they missed so much at their wedding but now I understand. It is very different being a bride than being a guest. I can’t wait to see my raw footage so that I can take it all in again.
That said my review is from the perspective that I was a customer and I paid, what in my opinion was, “good money” and I expected a certain level of service from my vendors which in some cases I received and others I did not. I am going to give an honest review. Take from it what you like and if you would like more details on any vendors please feel free to FM me. A’s and pluses are really reserved for people who did a great job and went above and beyond what I expected from them. Showing up and just doing your job is not above and beyond which is fine as long as the job got done.
Let me also say that I had to plan my entire wedding from Colorado and had to deal with most vendors over the phone or a one time visit when I was in New York over the past year and some vendors made that a much easier experience than others.
Mother Nature (A++++++)- Other brides who got married this day may wonder about the good weather review. It was cloudy and looked like rain all day but it didn’t rain until 8pm (the time I said it was allowed to start raining) so mother nature gets a good grade. We got to do our photos outside and made it through the outdoor ceremony as planned. My guests even got to enjoy the deck during the cocktail hour.
LA Productions- (A+)
Invitations- Laura was incredible. Originally I wanted custom made invitations and she made me a great sample but when we discussed when I would need them by it just couldn’t be done. I had waited too long to order them so we had to come up with plan B. In no time she helped me find an invitation online made by checkerboard that I loved but they did not make it with the brown ribbon that I wanted. She called them and they said if we shipped them the color ribbon they would make them with my ribbon. She bought the ribbon shipped it to them and I had my invitations in no time at all.
They came out perfect!!
I later realized the font was wrong (my fault because I approved the proof) and she contacted them for me and they refunded me 15% which I was shocked about since I approved the wrong font. It was too late for me to have them remade and they still looked great in my opinion.
Programs- I also ordered these from Laura. They were a simple 2 page Encore program which she used extra brown ribbon from my invitations to tie together. Again they were perfect and just what I wanted.
Place Cards- Since my wonderful hall would not let me do votive place cards I had to go with standard type cards so I had a simple place card to which Laura added a thin brown ribbon to go with my whole brown and ivory theme. They looked very simple but elegant.
Thank You Cards- At the last minute I decided I wanted thank you cards for my bridal party and the parents ( no sense wasting money on special cards for the guys they would just trash them anyway). When I picked them up I just loved them. Without even asking her she made them in my wedding colors. Everyone loved them.
Day of Coordinator- All I can say is that if any brides out there are type “A” like me you must find a way to work Laura into your budget. I say this with 110% honesty…..I would not have gotten through my wedding day without her. I knew from the beginning dealings with my hall that I would need someone on my side that day and she was it. Having her there made me feel like I did not have to worry about a thing.
I could fill up pages of my review telling you how great she and her assistant Jill were. I really can’t say enough good things about either of them. They are both so kind and patient and you can tell that they really love what they do and put their whole heart into making sure your day is as perfect as it can be. Everything seemed so organized the whole day and I was able to sit back and relax and enjoy my wedding knowing that they had everything under control.
She was at the hotel on time to receive my flowers. Held it together while I panicked because we were behind schedule. Talked to my groom several times to keep him posted on what was going on. Decorated the hotel room with tulle. Redid my program basket that morning to match my colors better.
She did my bustle, touched up my make up all day, fixed my mom’s hem 3 times I think, checked on me all day, and the best part was that she had a happy smile on her face all day that just makes everyone around her smile!
The list could go on. I highly recommend any of her services. You will not be disappointed.
Dress- I got this from a bridal shop in CO so no need for a review. My dress was a Mon Cheri and I loved it.
I did have problems with their alterations shop though.
Solotu- (A+) Last minute emergency alterations in NY. The week of my wedding I was worried I was going to hate my bustle so MIL and I frantically tried to find someone to help me redo my bustle and press my dress. Well we couldn’t find anyone who would touch it. SO we were in St James (I think) and passed by a shop that had a wedding dress in the window. So I rang the bell and asked if they did alterations and explained my situation. It was a Saturday and my wedding was that Friday and I wasn’t sure about my bustle.
Well it turns out she custom makes wedding gowns but was sweet enough to help me out. I went in and tried on my dress and we bustled it and it wasn’t as bad as I had kept picturing it in my head so we left the bustle alone but while doing all of this she discovered my hem was never done on my slip. She also found a way to get the zipper in the back to lay flat and she pressed my dress by hand beautifully.
Rafaella is the shop owner and she works with her mom and they are just the sweetest people!! I know she was working on becoming a LIW vendor. Her dresses were gorgeous. I wish I had known about her sooner not that I could have had a dress custom made in NY while living in CO. But I just want to give her a review because she saved the day for me.
Veil and Headpiece- (A+) Both were custom made by a Veil shop here in CO called “The Kissing Moon”. The shop owner was another one who you just fall in love with. She was so sweet and loves her work. She did an incredible job. I had a 2 layer cathedral veil with bios tape edging and she took a Nadri necklace and made it into my headpiece to which I had matching earrings and bracelet. I just loved both my veil and my headpiece.

Re: Finally My 9/17 Lombardi's on the Sound Review w/Pics
Jacqueline Nicole- (A+) What can I say that hasn’t already been said. She is just great. She did me, my mom, my SIL and my MIL. Let’s just say the morning got a little hectic, we were all off schedule and she had a lot less than the normal time to do my make up (my mistake in planning) and it still came out flawless!! She does a great job at keeping you calm under pressure. My make up stayed on all day from what I could tell (haven’t seen many pictures yet). I got the airbrush and it is worth the extra money. It is so light on your face that you don’t feel like you have a layer of foundation caked on. I bought my lip liner and lipstick from her and Laura was touching me up all day! But that was all we touched up, a little powder to take any glisten off and fresh lipstick.Taralei - (A+) OK brides to be, there is no need to worry! She will call you back. Let me just tell you that her phone literally rang at least 30+ times while she was at the hotel doing our hair. She also has a regular job in addition to doing hair so time is an issue for her but she will call you back. She calls people back in the order of their wedding. She showed up for my trial and my wedding no problem and she calls to confirm. So don’t stress!
She was totally worth it. She did everyone’s hair and each of us loved how it came out! She is a perfectionist and won’t let you leave her chair unless you and her are satisfied. She is so sweet also. It was so nice to have another calming presence in the room that morning. Everyone’s hair stayed in perfectly. I wish I could have kept mine in forever but it was a big hair do and sleeping in it just wasn’t an option.
New York Style Limousines- (B) They showed up and did their job but that was about it. Since this was a friend of my BIL I thought that we would get extra good service but we really didn’t. I guess maybe we got a good price but I am not even sure of that. They didn’t do anything wrong and they were on time so I guess that counts for something. But I expect a bride and groom to get “special” treatment that day and as soon as 5:15 came they were hounding us that we only had the limos until 5:30 and that we still needed to get to PJCC which annoyed me (especially because you get a 15min grace period which they don’t mention) and then I think they were rushing to get us out of the hall at the end of the reception to take us back to the hotel and our nighttime driver had the personality of a skunk and slammed on the brakes at a red light which had a flying to the front of the limo. If they give you get a good price then it’s worth it I guess because there were no real problems just nothing special I can rave about.
Rev. Janine Burns- (A) She did a great job. DH is agnostic and I am not really into anything religious at this point in my life and she helped us create a ceremony that was just perfect for us. It was spiritual and really focused on the commitment we were making that day. She really works with you to personalize your ceremony and to make sure that you are comfortable with each part. We did the Hands ceremony and also gave Roses to our Mothers during the ceremony. I chose 2 readings as well. I would definitely recommend her if you aren’t doing the church wedding. She is very upbeat and works hard to make sure that your ceremony goes well that day.

Re: Finally My 9/17 Lombardi's on the Sound Review w/Pics
Ensemble Champlain- (A) They did our ceremony music and honestly being the bride I didn’t get to hear any of it. I was in another world when I was walking down the aisle so when I see my video I will add a more specific review.Anne-Marie was really great to work with and their price is reasonable for a trio. We did everything through email and one phone call to go over song choices.
Men’s Wearhouse- (A) We placed our order for style in CO and DH got measured here in CO and everyone else used the one near the Smithaven Mall. We honestly had no problems with them. They were nice and the tuxes were in on time and everything was with them.
The only problem we had was the tie we chose for DH. All the guys had all black and DH had a black and grayish silver vest so we chose a silver tie for him. Well when it came in and he put it on it looked terrible! They were able to rush order a charcoal tie which looked much better and it was there to pick up the morning of the wedding.
I would definitely recommend them. I know not being able to try on was frustrating for some but it worked out fine for us and the prices were reasonable compared to what I have heard other people paying.
Ying Yang Chinese Buffet- I am not going to give them a grade because it’s a buffet and they really don’t do anything much as far as service goes. We had our rehearsal dinner here for 18 people. It was great. Everyone loved it. I was worried some might think it wasn’t fancy enough but I didn’t want my in laws to spend a lot of money because MIL already gave me a shower and they were giving us a big wedding gift and my family wasn’t contributing much financially.
They gave us a section in the back of the restaurant and it worked out perfect. No outsiders were in our space and everyone enjoyed the food. The only draw back was Chinese and sodium and water retention somy girls and I ate very little since we didn’t want bloat the next day but the men chowed down.
So if you are looking for a fun and inexpensive rehearsal dinner I would definitely recommend them. The food was delicious and it was a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
Bridal Suite of Patchogue- (C) Honestly giving them this grade is generous. They were an absolute nightmare to deal with and I would only recommend trying on a dress there and then buying it elsewhere. We used them for bridesmaid dresses only.
Since I live out of state we had one day to find a BM dress. I had narrowed down some ideas none of which in person we liked. We decided to stop in Bridal Suite since my SIL had used them 8 years ago for her wedding and was very happy with them.
We quickly found a Bill Levkoff dress that we fell in love with. For simplicity’s sake we decided to order it that day since it was mid April and they said it takes 3 plus months for the dresses to come in (which in fact it did).
At the time of ordered they explained the alterations and the cap, etc. That was fine. Well my MOH and her sister live in the city and it was going to be too much of a hassle for them to go out to Patchogue for alteration so she asked to have the dress shipped to her and she would do alterations on her own since she works in fashion anyway. No problem they said. Both MOH and her sister are tall so they had to order extra length for extra money then turn around and pay money to have 3 inches taken of the extra 5 inches they order. Also my MOH is large chested and has a long torso so she asked if the “tall” size she was ordering added length to the torso which she was told it did so her chest would be covered completely. Also they forced her to order a size 14 which cost her a small fortune in alterations.
Well when the dresses finally come in 3 months later my MOH calls to have them shipped and is told “We don’t ship dresses”. So she has to get all the way out to Patchogue to pick them up. Then when she goes for her alterations there is no extra length in the torso so the dress never ends up fitting her right because her chest is so large.
I don’t know all the details but my sister in law had a terrible time with them for alterations. No one would work with her when she went in there. They would stick her in a dressing room and ignore her. She also asked for a swatch of the brown belt to get her shoes died and that was like pulling teeth.
I think it would have been cheaper and less hassle for us to order them online somewhere. This place has no customer service skills whatsoever so buyer beware.
Macy’s- Smithaven Mall – (A) My MIL got her dress here and had no problems with them. She said they were very nice and she was able to use some coupons for a discount on her dress. Her alterations came out well and her dress was ready as scheduled.
Godiva Choclates- (A) We got the two piece truffle favor with ivory ribbon from them. They were ready ahead of schedule and the guests really enjoyed this extra treat. For me I felt it wasn’t the most original favor but it was easy and it came wrapped and ready to go so if your are going for simplicity I would recommend chocolate favors.
Paragon Designs- (A) We used them for chair covers and it was worth every penny. If you can work this into your budget I recommend it. Between the flowers and the chair covers my reception room literally took my breath away. It was exactly what I had envisioned. It just makes a room so much more elegant in my opinon.
I worked with Jamila and she was great to deal with. We had a couple of miscommunications in ordering but we were able to work it all out and they were a lot cheaper than the house vendor for Lombardi’s. They were there on time to set up for the wedding and I had paid for them to come take them down the next day.

Re: Finally My 9/17 Lombardi's on the Sound Review w/Pics
Tommy Tunes- (C) First let me start by saying that they were very easy to deal with. Tommy is very nice and every time I had to call anyone that I spoke with was nice and friendly. I didn’t have my papers back to them and like clock work one month before my wedding they called to remind me to get them in.Now the reason for my grade-We paid $75 for them to bring a CD player, speakers and a wireless microphone to the ceremony to play the background music for my vocalist to sing to. I went over this with them several times and reconfirmed everything the week of the wedding when I dropped off my final payment. My ceremony is delayed and I have no idea why, it starts, it comes time for the vocalist to sing and it sounds HORRIBLE! I mean I was embarrassed to even have this going on at my elegant wedding. It was fuzzy, you couldn’t hear it and my vocalist was having a terrible time trying to sing to music she couldn’t hear. I felt bad for her and upset with my vendor.
Well I come to find out the next day (no one wanted to upset me the day of my wedding) that Tommy Tunes DJ had to be called about 6:20 to find out where they were. They said they didn’t know they were supposed to be there for the ceremony or something of that nature so what ended up happening was they got there in time for the singing and hooked the CD up to the speakers that the hall was using for the ceremony. It was just awful.
Had that been the only mishap I might not be so harsh. I had very specific directions for music when I sent in my sheets. Bride and Groom first dance alone, Dedicate song to Mom during dinner while everyone is sitting, and a short and I mean short must play list. I was very open to whatever music kept the crowd having fun.
WELL!!!!! My husband and I are introduced and start our first dance which was a song that is very special to us and while we are dancing we hear the MC invite the bridal party to join in, then I hear him invite parents, then everyone else. I am like what the hell!!! I let it go because I refuse to let anything get me down that day and I still had my dance with my husband to our song.
NEXT!!! I specially wanted the dedication of You Raise me Up to my mom done during dinner while everyone was sitting so that we could have people’s attention, my mom would be sitting and not distracted and everyone would be able to hear. Well dinner comes and no dedication. Next thing I know I am walking around and my mom is on the other side of the room and I hear them dedicate the song to my mom while we are both standing around and people are all over the place. This is exactly what I didn’t want. I didn’t want people to be expecting me to dance with my mom. I just simply wanted a song dedicated her, that’s all!
The positive was that the crowd was on the dance floor all night and I felt like my wedding was a lot of fun and overall that is the most important thing. None of these small things ruined my wedding but I don’t really feel like I got what I paid for. They are an expensive DJ and for me did not live up to their reputation. I felt like we got their mediocre DJ/MC combo and that wasn’t worth the almost $2K it cost us. Our guests are party people and they would have danced like they did to any DJ. We wanted to fun, outgoing, crowd pleasing MC and it just wasn’t what we got.
Post wedding Tommy again was great to deal with and without question refunded me my money for the ceremony music. He already knew what happened and apologized for the mix up.
I wouldn’t go as far as not recommending them because I know that their reputation is good for a reason. My suggestion is know what DJ/MC you are getting if you can’t pick one that has been recommended to you. INSIST on meeting with them pre wedding face to face to go over things and to get a feel for how into your wedding they are going to be.

Re: Finally My 9/17 Lombardi's on the Sound Review w/Pics
Flowers by Diana- (A+) We used her for all of our flowers and all I can say is that she did a phenomenal job. She is a family friend who does wedding flowers out of her home on the weekend. Every wedding in my husband’s family has used her and no one has ever been disappointed.I went in with very few ideas on what I wanted. I had a picture but it was dried flowers so we could only work with that a little. I basically gave her creative license to do what she felt she needed to do and while I was a little nervous not knowing exactly what it would look like I had confidence in her work. She listed all the flowers she was going to use but other than roses, orchids and lilies they were all a foreign language to me.
She also did a swag for our ceremony table which we then moved into the sweetheart table. In addition she decorated the arbor with tulle and silk flower garland and it was just perfect. The plants that PJCC hangs there are hideous in my opinion and I just knew I wouldn’t like my pictures if I got married under a pot of hanging plants. I just didn’t go with the look I was going for.
My centerpieces were gorgeous! When you walked into the reception room it smelled you were overcome with the delicious smell of lilies and roses! Just amazing.
If you would like her information FM me. Her prices are so reasonable and I know that if I used another florist I would not have gotten what I got from her for the price I paid. She is very kind and talented.

Re: Finally My 9/17 Lombardi's on the Sound Review w/Pics
PatkenPhoto (A)
Steve was great. I gave him a very long must take list as well as a CD with over 100 photos giving examples of what I wanted. He was so nice about me telling him how to do his job....lol. But I was so worried about coming away from my wedding and not having all of the pictures I wanted that I made sure to cover all bases. I would say he got close to 90% of my list which is impressive. All the key shots were taken.
Overall I am very happy with my proofs. My only cocern is that some of the posed stuff is very far away so I am not sure what if anything can be done about that when getting enlargements.
But if you are using Steve you have nothing to worry about. Let him know what you want and he will take care of it.
After the posed stuff it was like he wasn't even there. You just get to enjoy your wedding and he takes care of the rest.
Video (grade pending) I don't have raw footage yet but Tim was so great I am not worried. I am sure I will love the final product.
Everything I said about Steve the same goes for Tim. They were both with us for 12 hours that day. Came to see me get ready then went to DH's then to Stonybrook for formals then finally to PJCC.
Hamton Inn Brookhave (A)
We had close to 25 rooms booked there. Pretty much no problems, a little hard to deal with at first but it all worked out in the end.
They did a great job. Had a huge bus to take my guests to and from the wedding. Using them worked out perfectly.

Re: Finally My 9/17 Lombardi's on the Sound Review w/Pics
And finally……………Lombardi’s on the Sound (PJCC)
Pre Wedding- (D)
Wedding- (B)
Post Wedding (F)
These people have NO and I mean NO people skills whatsoever. They sweet talk you into signing a contract with them but once they get your money it is like you are tossed aside. I think their reputation has gotten the best of them and they no longer make the effort to provide good personalized service. I don’t want to name the people I dealt with but FM me if you would like to know.
Let’s just say our Banquet Manager was not kind at all. You always felt like you were a bother when you called not to mention is was like trying to get the Pope on the phone when you called. We booked September 2003 and were told we could see blueprints in December 2003….didn’t happen. I told them in September 2003 that I wanted to have a chocolate fountain at my wedding….they wouldn’t allow it in the end, the list goes on.
We booked site unseen as most 2004 brides did and made a special trip to NY over Easter because we were specifically told that we would be able to see the place to decide if that is where we definitely wanted to have our reception. We live in CO and the next trip to NY was going to be 5 weeks before our wedding. You can’t change a venue then. Anyway this was a complete nightmare. Our BM basically said we only came to NY for Easter and that he didn’t say we could see the place…total lie, I confirmed with him before my trip and his exact words were “call me when you get to NY and I will set up a time for you to see it.” DH and I don’t even celebrate Easter it was just a convenient time to go! So a day later and some phone calls to people we got in but it was useless. Mid April and the place was still gutted and you had no idea what it was going to look like so we took our chances and kept our booking. In the end the renovations were gorgeous but that was just a stress a bride did not need. I can only imagine how the first bride getting married there May 1 must have felt.
So fast forward to “Party Planning” No votive place cards, no rose petals, no menus….don’t you think they should give you their long list of NO’s when or before you sign a contract? Or maybe put that in the contract? Our party planning session was a waste!! The girl could not answer any questions and had to get back to me on everything. I couldn’t get the cake I wanted which was a smooth ivory frosted cake with chocolate bands at the bottom of each tier because their baker couldn’t make it. The said NO to the chocolate fountain, said it was a liability just like the votive candles…whatever. So I fought with them left and right and finally got 2 fondue stations but that turned out to be a total waste! They put it out around 11:30 when my reception was over at midnight so half the guests didn’t even get a chance to get out the fondue tables.
I specifically asked that the chairs at my ceremony be angles so my guests would have an easier time seeing, confirmed this several times and they still weren’t angled and my guests couldn’t see.
I asked to have Mojito’s to drink a week before my wedding and the first time I ask for one they say they can’t make those. I was livid but the fixed that on the spot and I had my drink.
Our bridal attendant was awful! My husband had to get his own drinks all night. I don’t even remember her asking once if we needed anything. If she got us something it’s because I searched for her and asked her to get it.
We somehow had 2 Maitre D’s and I think one was in training so that was annoying because we didn’t get great service their either
I sware that I ordered yellow cake with canolli and chocolate mousse filling well when I cut into my cake it is chocolate!! Delicious but still chocolate.
Also we had several no shows and put in an order for 6 dinners for us to take home. Was told this would be taken care of. Well after they rushed us out at the end of the night I call my MIL and ask if she has the food. Of course not! They never gave it to us.
So now that my wedding is over I put a call into them about the poor service from Bridal Attendant and Maitre D, the wrong cake and not getting the meals I paid for. That was over a week ago and of course I have yet to get a phone call back.
Please do not flame me because this is a god honest review!! Brides be warned to stay on top of things. If someone asked me would I recommend my hall I would say YES! In the big picture, from my guests point of view my wedding was perfect. Everyone raved about the wedding, the ceremony, the cocktail hour, the food etc. Nothing that went wrong affected how great my wedding was. The things that went wrong are things that bother me as a consumer and a particular one at that. The place is gorgeous and really provides an elegant atmosphere for such a special day. The food was delicious. So in the end that’s what matters the most. The other stuff is minor details.

Thank you for an honest and detailed review. I don't have any of the same vendors but am planning from CA. If it wasn't for my mom and sister(former party planner), I would lose it so I know how hard you had it! You looked beautiful and so happy. I loved your dress!
