FUTUREMRSFASS' superlong review - 9/18/09 Land's End, Lovin Oven Floral, BodyRock, Roseanna Amador, Jackie Nicole, Jessica Rini!

So here goes – my super loooong review! Enjoy!
Engagement/Ring – Wolffer Estate/Gold Star A+
It all began on April 1, 2007 when DH proposed at one of our favorite vineyards in the Hamptons – Wolffer Estate. I knew the engagement was coming but wasn’t quite sure when it was going to be. I started to question every time he took me somewhere, ‘would this be the day’. It was April Fool’s day when he told me he had a day planned for us. We are big wine drinkers so it wasn’t unusual for him to take me out East. However, we started out in Sag Harbor for lunch which was unusual and it was a misty rainy day – not one that we would typically choose as a vineyard day. Once we got to Wolffer we did our usual tasting and then he asked me to go outside to walk through the vineyard. I complained a little because like I said it was rainy. He eventually got me out there by telling me his allergies were bothering him and he needed ‘fresh air’. Once we were outside, he was acting so weird and before I could ask him what was wrong he said ‘this is the day’. I stared at him in disbelief as he got down on one knee. I thought it was a joke being that it was April Fool’s but when he pulled the box out of his jacket pocket, I realized that it really was happening! The ring was more beautiful than I had expected-1.53c center stone princess cut with one prong set diamond on each side and channel set side stones in the band. The total weight 3 carats – he did a good job! He used a jeweler out of Tri County -‘Gold Star’ who my family has been going to for years.

Bridal Shower – Bellport Country Club A+
My mom and bridesmaids did an amazing job with my shower. I was very sneaky and difficult by trying to figure out when my shower was going to take place. My MOH wanted to kill me. She sent me a fake invitation to a wine tasting event at Bellport Country Club which again would definitely be something me and DH would go to. DH had a difficult time asking me about whether he should make reservations to this event because he is a horrible liar which led me to begin questioning whether this was a set up. Once the day came I figured out that it was indeed my shower because DH was out of sorts. When we walked in to Bellport Country Club he was trying SO hard to be inconspicuous but it did not work. I was almost in pain for him and wanted to say ‘give it up, the cat’s out of the bag’ but I didn’t want him to feel bad. A young boy who was working that day tried to lead us in the right direction to the ‘wine event’ but mistakenly said ‘what wine event, we aren’t having one today!’ At that point DH just walked me upstairs and there were all of my friends and family members awaiting my arrival. They served a buffet brunch - the theme was ‘the perfect fit’. My girls decorated with high heels and girly stuff which is so me! One of my BMs made the favors which were cookies in the shape of shoes – they were delicious! They also had my invitation girl design programs with pictures of me and DH and shower games. It was perfect! I had a hard time letting everything sink in because it was the 1st overwhelming experience having to do with the wedding. I remember calling my mom that night in hysterics because it really hit me that I was getting married so soon!

Bachelorette Party – Danford’s on the Sound/Bar hopping in Port Jeff A+
I did not want to do something over the top for my bachelorette party because I wanted everyone to be able to make it and have the option of going home or staying. Port Jeff is one of my favorite towns and my brother has a connection with someone at Danford’s so it worked out. My MOH got the best suite @ Danford’s which left tons of room for everyone to stay. We got to the room early to hang out, get ready and they of course got me some ‘entertainment’ which was a lot of fun and started the night off with many laughs. We had dinner @ the restaurant @ Danford’s which was very yummy. For the rest of the evening we jumped from bar to bar and sang some karaoke. It turned out to be my ideal bachelorette party!

Invites + BM Jewelry- Jessica Rini www.jessicarini.com A+
One of my BMs introduced me to Jessica, a young, trendy graphic artist. She is just starting out in the wedding business by typically working with ‘word of mouth’ clients. When we met she totally got my vision for the wedding. I knew I wanted a vineyard theme because DH and I have a love for wine and the vineyards. I also knew that I wanted my basic colors to be brown and sage with a little purple. All of the colors I think of when I think of a vineyard! I let Jessica put the vision in to place and I loved everything she created! She did my invitations, place cards, STD, table names and shower programs. She also came up with the idea of how to display the table names. I named the tables after LI vineyards and she used the same ribbon that was on my invites to make the table name signs which hung over the neck of a wine bottle. She even helped me collect the wine bottles! It was such a great idea and it looked beautiful. My place cards matched my invites and we set them in wine corks.
Jessica is so talented that she also makes handmade jewelry! She made earring and bracelet sets for each of my girls using brown Swarovski crystals. The girls loved the sets and could use them over and over again because the design was not too dressy.

BM Jewelry

DIY bubbles/programs/cry packs/Hershey kisses various vendors A+
I had only a few DIY projects because I am not too creative. I ordered labels from Vistaprint. One label for the bubbles and one for the cry packs. For the bubbles, I simply bought the plain ones from dollar tree, wrapped the label around, and tied some raffia at the top. For the cry packs, I ordered clear plastic envelopes from papermart, stuffed with tissues, stuck the label on, and tied raffia around. The programs were made on my home computer with cardstock paper purchased from AC Moore. The programs came out okay but I really couldn’t see the sense in paying someone to create them when most of the time they go in the garbage. For the Hershey kisses I purchased plastic PVC boxes from Durapack on eBay and purchased the labels from dollfacecharms also on ebay-they were just something extra on the table.

Favors – Monogrammed wine glasses/mini bottles of Sutter Home various vendors A+
I wanted to incorporate something wine related for our favor but wanted to make sure it was something people would use. I found a company in Westbury that gave me a reasonable price for glass etching so DH and I thought about monogrammed wine glasses. We purchased wine glasses from IKEA for super cheap and drove them right over to the company (Pencoa) which was 5 minutes away. I worked with Jennifer who was wonderful! I even needed to order some more glasses to be etched last minute because our guest list grew – they had them done in 3 days! We ordered the wine from my cousin’s boyfriend who owns Modica liquors in Copiague. Wrapping them was the next challenge but I found cocoa colored bakery boxes online for super cheap (I don’t remember the website). I put basket filling inside the box, wrapped raffia around, and ordered the ‘thank you’ labels from eBay (dollfacecharms). It took a whole day of me and my MOH putting the boxes together but they came out great! It looked like an expensive favor but it really wasn’t – and each guest got one!

Bridal party gifts Various vendors A+
For the BMs I got them monogrammed tote bags from threelulus.com in my wedding colors. I filled the tote bags with a coach wristlet (the gold sparkly one so they could use it the night of the wedding), the philosophy ‘bridal party’ gift set from Sephora, the jewelry Jessica Rini made, and a Lancôme Juicy Tube. I got my MOH an extra gift from personalizationmall.com – it was a photograph canvas that I personalized with a nice saying.

For the groomsmen we got them Burberry ties to wear the day of the wedding. We searched FOREVER for the sage green ties. It took a long time to find them because Burberry only releases certain amounts of different colored ties and then once they are gone they are gone. We ordered them from the Europe website (but over the phone) which was a project – but it was worth it! DH got the traditional colored Burberry tie. We also got the GM engraved cigar holders from Thingsremembered.com with 3 cigars in each – they are all big cigar smokers.

For the flower girl who is my god-daughter I ordered her a ‘god-daughter’ bracelet from www.jewelryandbabyblingbydara.com. Also, I filled a personalized beach tote (from echosounds) that I ordered from eBay with toys, coloring books, and a wedding day fun kit.

For the Ring Bearer who is in to trains we got a personalized chalk board set decorated with trains from tri-county flea market. We also filled a personalized beach tote (from echosounds - eBay) with toys and a wedding day activity set.
Parent gifts – Various vendors A+
We got my father a Burberry tie and a frame from thingsremembered.com engraved with – remember the day you gave me away.
For his father who is big into golf we got him a personalized golf ball case and matching towel for his golf bag from personalizationmall.com.
We got my mother a wedding related figurine that shows a mother giving her daughter away from exclusivelyweddings.com. We did the same for DH’s mother except it was a mother giving her son away. They were a big hit – we were also able to engrave the wedding date on the figurine stand.
We got personalized hankies from personalizationmall.com for my nana, DHs two grandmothers, our moms, and my aunt.
For my uncle, we got him the same cigar holder as the GM and an engraved frame from thingsremembered.com that said ‘I’m everything I am because you loved me’ the same lyrics to the song we danced to at my wedding. He didn’t know the meaning prior to the wedding so it was extra special when the song began to play at the wedding!
For our readers – DHs uncle we got him a bottle of liquor. For our two friends we got the same engraved cigar holder with cigars and the other a 'friend' frame with a picture of all of us and a Vera Bradley wristlet.

Unity candle and monogram – idooriginals.com A+
There is a lot to offer on their website, they were great to work with. They designed our monogram and incorporated it into our unity candle perfectly!

Ring Bearer Pillow – creativebridalsolutions.com A+
The ring bearer pillow was custom made to match the wedding colors and came out perfect!

Shoes – Bergdorf Goodman A+
Thanks to my father I own my very first pair of manolo blahniks! They were hard to locate in my size but I finally snagged a pair on the Bergdorf Goodman online store. I love them and they were very comfortable…I swear! I can’t wait to wear them again!

Jewelry – Regina B + annabellagio.com A+
I changed my mind a thousand times about the jewelry I was going to wear the day of. I knew I did not want a necklace because it would have taken away from the detail at the top of my gown. I originally ordered earrings and a bracelet from Regina B. Both were gorgeous but later I found earrings that matched my dress better from annabellagio.com. I stuck with the Regina B. bracelet though. I still have the never worn Regina B. earrings that I am willing to sell if anyone is interested! The chandeliers are the Regina B.’s.

For sale-

Dress/dress shop – Kenneth Pool/ Wedding Salon of Manhasset A+
During my online dress browsing I always fell in love with the KP dresses. Unfortunately, I knew they were a small fortune but I still wanted to experience trying one on! My first appt was at the wedding salon of Manhasset and I truly felt like I was royalty during my time there. I brought my mom only the first time and tried several KP dresses on. Of course I fell in love with one – AVA. The saleswoman warned me before I tried the dresses on –she said that once I put his dresses on no other dress would compare. I didn’t care eventhough I knew I couldn’t afford a KP but I proceeded to try them on and she was SO right. My mom and I fell in love with AVA. When we left I was determined to find a way to get my dream dress…but luckily I didn’t have to develop a master plan b/c my mom purchased my dress for me. We went to other dress shops following our KP extravaganza and really no dress I tried on compared. The beauty, detail and quality of the dress is just top notch. I wish I could wear it again! My seamstress was also amazing…I wound up dropping 30 pounds from the time I ordered to the time of my fittings…she took my dress in 3 sizes and you would never know. Her work was flawless! This was one of my favorite vendors!
Before taken in 1st fitting:

2nd fitting much better! :

Veil Barron’s Tri County A+
I knew I was not going to be a veil girl. I wanted something very simple because I only wanted to wear it for the ceremony. I also did not want to take away from my beautiful dress. So I got a plain elbow length veil with a finished satin edge. I think it was like 50 bucks. It was perfect…I couldn’t wait to take it off because it was pulling the beadwork on the back of my dress. I also am not a fan of the look of wearing the veil all night…it looks too ‘foo foo’ for me. Of course everyone has their own style and opinion on this…it just isn’t me so the cheap veil served its purpose!

Tiara www.bridalfashionmall.com A+
Another thing I changed my mind about! I originally purchased a headpiece from Barrons that had a little height. I changed my mind after my 2nd hair trial when I decided on a looser up do. I decided that a headband style tiara would suit me better. I loved a Thomas Knoell but I really didn’t want to spend the money on it. I found one that looked very similar online. It wound up wearing it in the back of my up do…it gave me the exact look I wanted!

BM/FG dress – Saison Blanche (Adrienne’s)/Little Lady Collection by Forever Yours (magic moments in Port Jeff)
This process was relatively easy! I only had 4 BMs so picking a dress was painless. We went on two shopping trips and decided on the Saison blanche dress. We had the choice to order the dress either with Adrienne’s or the Wedding Center (wanted to stay in Suffolk for convenience). Both had mixed reviews but I opted for Adrienne’s because I have purchased BM’s dresses there before without a problem. We ordered early to avoid any delay in shipping and everything was fine. Only one of my girls needed several alteration appts but in the end they waived her alteration fees due to inconvenience and everything worked out.
As for the FG dress…I fell in love with a Ladybug Collection dress but it was WAY too expensive. I was paying for the dress b/c it was my god-daughter as FG. I found the same dress offered by Forever Yours which was a whole lot cheaper. I wanted to color combo to be opposite of the BM dresses…I took a guess on the green to choose because I went by a swatch chart but it wound up being a perfect match! I ordered through magic moments in Port Jeff and had no problems!

Tuxes Roger’s Tuxes Centereach A+
Great service, no problems! DH got his rental for free!! There is also more than one location which made it convenient for those who live farther west.
Hair Roseanna Amador A
I had two trials with Roseanna…one for a half up half down style and the 2nd was for an up do. She took her time and listened to what I wanted. She also did more than one style for me during each trial. I purchased her line of real hair extensions to add fullness to my hair. I loved Roseanna’s personality and patience. I wound up going for an up do because I was concerned about my hair falling if I left it down. Also, everyone told me that the half up/down style didn’t look like me. I LOVED the loose up do she did for me during my 2nd trial and knew it was the one. I also had a fitting following the appt so I was able to see it with my dress, it was the perfect look for my dress. My only complaint is that I liked my trial better than how it came out the day of. Also, it def fell throughout the night. It still looked decent but it didn’t stay perfect. I don’t blame Roseanna though because it was mostly attributed to the wind because we were on the beach taking pictures. Everyone always tells me how beautiful my hair looked though. All my BM’s were happy with their hair as well!

Day of:

Makeup Jacqueline Nicole A+
One of my favorite vendors because of her sincere kindness. Not only is Jackie talented she is so kind hearted! When I met her I felt like I had known her my whole life. I knew I needed her to calm my nerves the day of and she did just that. She did a trial for my aunt and mom as well and everyone loved her work. My makeup was flawless! I even changed the colors I wanted the day of – I gave her a magazine clipping and she did exactly that! There just aren’t enough words! One of my BMs was not going to get her makeup done but once she saw everyone’s she changed her mind. Jackie had no problem adding her on. I got the airbrush and my makeup lasted all night! My eyes popped and looked great in pictures! She and Roseanna work together all the time so they communicate well, this made the preparation schedule flawless. I LOVE Jackie!

Hotel OOT guests Hilton Garden Inn Ronkonkoma A+
I had no problems with the OOT hotel we used. I worked with Christina C. who was great. They kept the bar open for an after party and also handed out our OOT bags. For our bags we did a LI theme and I made a wedding day schedule that I pasted to the outside of the bag. We purchased LI items such as Entenmanns’s crumb cakes and north fork potato chips. We also put info RE the vineyards out east.

Florist Lovin Oven Floral A+
Another one of my favorite vendors. I worked with Melissa who unfortunately is no longer with the company. She totally got my idea for my rustic themed vineyard wedding. My rule was NO ROSES! I hate roses and I wanted unique designs and flowers. She was amazing and truly excited to do my wedding. She said that she loved my vision because it wasn’t typical. My CP’s were also amazing…ugh can’t say enough! Love them!! They also did the Chinese laterns for us in the banquet hall. It really took my breath away when I walked into the hall. Exactly what I wanted!

Limos + Hotel transportation - Elegant Limos/Winston Transportation A+
No complaints with either – We got the Rolls for us and an escalade for the bridal party. I cared least about the hotel transportation so we simply used Winston Vans for roundtrip service..we got a good price.

Rehearsal Dinner Irish Coffee Pub A
Our rehearsal dinner was a sit down dinner in the room with the beautiful windows. The only problem was that they did not set up enough seating originally so it caused some disruption when they came to add seats. Overall though no problem and they did not rush us out of there. The food was very good as well.

Weather A
I stressed over the forecast for days! They called for rain up until the day before but we wound up having a gorgeous day! Thank god since Land’s End offered endless photo opts…OUTSIDE! My only complaint was that it was a bit windy on the beach which caused my hair to fall but it could have been worse so I shouldn’t complain! The sky was clear blue in all of my photos!
Church Our Lady of Grace A+
We used my church because it meant a lot to me since my brother got married there as well. Our Deacon made our experience wonderful. He was so funny and we hit it off from the start. He let us do pretty much what we wanted eventhough the church didn’t necessarily allow it. He completely understood that some of the rules were ridiculous and he was all about defying them! He is a very down to earth man who really got to know DH and I during pre cana. He gave a wonderful ceremony that people are still talking about.

RH Land’s End A+++
My FAVORITE vendor! DH and I looked at a few RH’s prior to booking with Land’s End. It was a similar experience as my KP dress saga…after visiting Land’s End NOTHING compared. And, again it would cost us a small fortune to have an almost 300 person wedding there but we were willing to make it work. It is no wonder that Land’s End was voted the top RH on LI. The place is just exquisite and service and food impeccable. I was so bent on what the carpets and chairs looked like in the RH’s we looked at (DH thought I was crazy) but I hate the ‘gaudy’ look that some RH’s have. Land’s End is very tastefully decorated and the views are just amazing. Our BM was Jennifer Barnett who was so easily accessible especially when I drove her crazy the last few weeks before the wedding. Our Maitre’ D + BA were absolutely fantastic and at our every beck and call. She even wiped my tears and cleaned my bloody foot when someone stepped on it when we were dancing on the dance floor! People are still raving about the food…some people thought the first course was ‘the meal’ ha-ha. The food is just amazing, I can’t say enough except you can’t go wrong with Land’s End and it was so worth the $.
Our cake was designed by the bakery that works with Land’s End – Audrey’s. I gave them a picture and they copied it exactly…the cake was yummy too!

Cake Topper Nicole W. Clark & http://www.couturecakejewelry.com/index.html A+
My monogram cake topper was purchased by one of my BMs from couture cake and it was beautiful! She knew my cake would be sage green so it was primarily violet to pull that color into it. It was so pretty! I plan on displaying it in a shadow box when I get around to it.
My dog look alike cake topper was purchased from Nicole Clark. She does several types of lookalike toppers but I wanted to incorporate our puggle George because he couldn’t be at our wedding. He is obviously our child though and a big part of our life. Nicole did this for me for a great price and it was so cute!

Toasting flutes + cake server/knife A+
My Aunt purchased my Swarovski crystal toasting flutes that I fell in love with! My MOH purchased the matching cake server/knife from thingsremembered.com which were just as beautiful!

Photographer Duet Alberto & Tim A+
They are very well known on here so everyone I’m sure knows how amazing their work is. I was so worried that they would miss certain shots that I wanted but with the 3,000 proofs we got it was not possible. They took photos that I never knew they took. Alberto is so gentle and calm and just great! You also can’t beat the price. Photography was one of my priorities but DH and I were quoted close to 10,000 for some companies and their work didn’t even compare. We knew right away once we saw their work. Alberto also traveled out east to a vineyard to do our e-shoot at Dilberto Winery. Those pictures also came out great and we were able to use one for our STD! A lot of the pictures above are pro-pics but here are a few of my favorites – more in my album!

Videographer Classic Video Productions A+
Steve did my brother’s wedding and many of their friends’ weddings as well. Each video was just amazing. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on a video for the amount that you really watch it and Steve offered good quality for a decent price. We LOVE our video and we LOVE Steve…he is like family because he has been at so many friend and family weddings. He was the first vendor we booked because we knew we wanted him to do our video. Here is a FB link to some portions of our wedding video: (log into your FB account then click the link below)

Facebook Link to 'Highlights' portion of video

DJ Body Rock MC Adam A+
We had no question about booking with Body Rock. We have been to several of their weddings. Adam did my brother’s wedding and his personality and charisma was just what I wanted. We begged for him to be at our wedding and he made it despite a recent injury he was dealing with (fire breathing of some sort ha-ha ;) ) I had so many requests and must plays and they seriously played them all! The dance floor was packed the whole night as you can see by my pictures and video. Everyone told me that the music was great and our wedding flew by because it was so much fun. I highly recommend Adam, I LOVE him!

Last but not least…
LIWeddings.com A+
I owe it all to LIWeddings and all the girls on here for helping me throughout my planning. You may not even realize you helped in some way but I took advice, suggestions, and ideas from many of you. Also, the information RE vendors is priceless! I would not have known about my vendors had I not been a part of this site. This review took forever but it was the least I could do to help others brides!
I hope you all find this review helpful! I had the most amazing day and was so lucky to have wonderful vendors! I had no complaints!

EDITED to ADD Vendor review -

Preserved Bo-Q Keepsake Floral A+
Def not a necessity but I wanted my bo-q to be preserved as long as I loved my flowers the day of. Being that I did, I made the rash decision to preserve my bo-q and DH's bout. There is a process to this whole thing so I had to order a rush kit so that my flowers would get to the preservation site in FL on time (wrapped up appropriately). My MIL sent my bo-q out while DH and I were on our mini moon. About 2 months after my bo-q was in preservation I had a very in depth design appt over the phone to pick what I wanted. This service is $$ so i was worried i would't like the outcome. You tell them what you want, they make it and ship it out so there is no approving it. DH was hesitant for me to order this but I went ahead and did it anyway! I am so happy I did!! I love it and can't wait to display it on a wall in my house! If you have thr $ def recommend it!
