My July 8 Wedding in Ireland

Hello ladies!

I wasn't going to do a review, especially as I didn't get married in Long Island, nor do I live there anymore. However, I did do much of my wedding planning in LI and many of you were more than helpful when it came to my endless questions and listened to me when I had to vent (didn't we all!?)

So, here is my very brief review and a few pictures of the most wonderful day of my life:

Reception Location: The Connemara Coast Hotel, Furbo, Galway - A+++
I mention this because it's somewhere many American's stay when visiting County Galway. The hotel was beautiful (the location is just breathtaking) and the staff COULDN'T be kinder or more helpful. Whether you're attending an even there or simply staying for a night or two, they couldn't do more to make you feel at home. For my big day, they went above and beyond in making it unbelievably special and I didn't have to worry about a thing all day long. The food was incredible and all 9 hours (!!!) of my reception were amazing - they thought of everything! I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Gown: Bridal Reflections, Carle Place - A+

The ladies at Bridal Reflections were wonderful. After trying on what felt like 1,000 gowns at everywhere from Kleinfelds to boutiques in Florida and DC (really, I'm not picky ), I walked in and Dana said 'you're going to find your dress today'. Naturally, I doubted her, but the 3rd dress she brought in was IT. I fell in love with it and the rest is history! They had to rush it for me because I left for Ireland in June, and nothing was too much to ask. They were really fabulous, I can't say enough.


Veil: SewDeb - A+++
Not knowing ANYTHING about veils, I was afraid that I would scare poor Deb away with all my questions. On the contrary, she couldn't have been more helpful, and finished my veils in amazing time! I had a chapel length veil with a blusher, and a fingertip length for the reception. They were both perfect - exactly what I wanted. She did a fabulous job, I was more than happy with my beautiful veils!

Shoes: DSW Carle Place - A
The shoes I bought were Nina. I loved them. My main concern was comfort, and it wasn't until about 11pm that the shoes got too much for me to bear and I opted for bare feet!

Rings -
Patrick bought mine at a little jeweler in North Carolina (I can't really comment on that experience as he picked it out himself and I wasn't there for it), and I bought his from Evander Preston in St. Pete Beach in Florida. The staff at Evander Preston were incredibly helpful and the ring arrived within 2 weeks of ordering, safe and sound at my home in NY.

Everything else was done or bought in Ireland, so it would be pointless to comment on them, really. However, I will comment on my amazing photographer. Emer Sherlock is based in Dublin and did just an outstanding job on my photographs. I couldn't be happier!

Honeymoon: The Hilton Malta A+++

Absolutely AMAZING. However, we had an interesting honeymoon. We got married on Friday, July 8th, flew to Malta on July 10th, and flew back to the States on July 13th. This was NOT our original plan. Wouldn't you know, my husband was called (by the Army) to get back immediately because he had to delpoy to Afghanistan on the 15th. So, we had to cut our honeymoon EXTREMELY short, and he left for Afghanistan on July 15th, and he's still gone. It's been interesting - I've been married 100 days, only 7 of which have been spent with my husband. He's due to be home the first week of November, please God, so I am just DYING for that day to come. We're hoping to have a second honeymoon over Christmas - perhaps Italy or Austria this time. Anyways - I'd appreciate your prayers for his continued safety until he gets home.
Having said that, our 3 days in Malta were absolutely incredible. The Hilton was INCREDIBLY beautiful. We had a gorgeous suite with an enormous balcony overlooking the ocean. The staff were unbelievably friendly and helpful. When we told them of our unexpectedly early departure, they couldn't have been more helpful. They helped reschedule our flights and left a bottle of champagne in our room on our last night to toast our short stay with them. I would highly recommed this hotel to anyone - and Malta is just gorgeous. We'd go back in a heartbeat.
