My June 18th Wedding Review!

Hello all!

I’m not a frequent poster but I have appreciated everyone’s advice and insight so much on this website so I wanted to share my wedding review with you all. I just really summarized our main vendors but if you have any specific questions about anything else or if I left anything out, please feel free to FM me!

Temple Judea of Manhasset (Newman & Leventhal Catering) A+++++

We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out. We worked with Jeff Torem who was absolutely WONDERFUL! He was on top of everything and definitely runs a tight ship over there. Everything ran SO smoothly and everything went on without a hitch (and I definitely attribute that to Jeff). He is fabulous! The food was awesome (which isn’t always the case at Kosher places). Not to mention the fact that we think Temple Judea is beautiful! Definitely check it out if you are looking for a temple wedding! Rabbi Abner Bergman officiated our wedding and he was fantastic as well! (he is the rabbi for this temple).

Florist: Spitz & Peck (www.spitzandpeck.com) A+++++

WOW is all I have to say about the flowers and the amazing job that Spitz and Peck did at our wedding. We worked with Maddy and Bob in the Cedarhurst office and if any of you are going to check them out, DEFINITELY work with either of them! We worked more with Maddy and she was fabulous! She had a ton of creative ideas and she’s so easy to work with! I know that there have been negative things said about this florist in the past, but we really couldn’t have been happier with them. Maddy even came while everyone was setting up for the wedding to make sure everything was running smoothly. I had different centerpieces on the tables which I loved (but we incorporated the same colors). Our caterer didn’t force us to use any specific florist, but we decided to use Spitz and Peck on our own. EVERYONE was telling me that they were the most beautiful flower they have ever seen, and I have to agree!

Band: New York City Swing (www.nycswing.com) A+++++

It’s almost 6 weeks later and everyone is still telling me how amazing our band was! They were fabulous! The band is such an important part of the wedding and we are glad we spent the money to have such an incredible one – it’s definitely worth it!! They are top quality and added so much to the wedding. They also did our ceremony music, which was also beautiful.

We just got our video yesterday and it is INCREDIBLE! He really captured our wedding beautifully. I cried while I was watching it because it really brought us back to our wedding day. There’s so much you forget right after your wedding and so many things you miss and he really helped us fill in the missing pieces. It made all those wonderful feelings you feel on your wedding day come flooding back. He is SO creative, I’ve never seen any other videographer who does so many creative things. Check out his website to see samples of his video. His standard package includes a 2nd videographer and even with that, he is still reasonably priced. The 2nd videographer really makes a difference!

Makeup: Susan @ Aura Faceworks (http://aurafaceworks.com/) A+++++

Susan was great! I loved how my makeup came out (and I am really picky!) and she was really great to work with. She is reasonably priced and she comes to your house or wherever you’d like her!

Hair: Salon De Al in Great Neck (Vicki)

I went to the salon to get my hair done and I was very happy with how it came out! I wanted something very simple and Vicki was great!

Wedding Dress: Wedding Salon of Manhasset (Reem Acra dress)

Got my dress here – nothing negative to say about them except that it is always VERY busy in there. Good service though! My seamstress was Sue and she was wonderful!

Bridesmaid Dresses: Amsale (got them at Bloomingdales in NYC)

Bloomingdales in NYC has a great Bridesmaid dress department (they don’t have that in the Long Island one). I worked with a girl named Rebecca (212-705-3971) and she was great! They have a really nice selection and you can get 20% off all the dresses if you open up a Bloomies card. It’s a great deal!

Headpiece: Basia (212) 874-6720

I actually borrowed my hair pins from a friend, but she got them from a lady named Basia who works out of her home on the Upper West Side. She has great prices and if you bring her a picture of something, she can usually copy it. Definitely check her out!

Groomsmen Vests/Ties: Dante/Zeller Tuxedo – D- !

I have to say that our wedding really went on without a hitch – we were really so lucky with all our vendors and the way everything turned out. If anything had to go wrong, I guess the groomsmen vests is something I can deal with going wrong. It was VERY stressful at the time (especially for my husband), but looking back, we’re glad this is the thing that didn’t work out well (as opposed to something else going wrong). They were HORRIBLE! None of the vests/ties were ready on time for our groomsmen to pick them up! I mean, if we were having an out of town wedding, our groomsmen wouldn’t have had vests and ties! My husband’s tie was dirty when he got it and the whole experience was pretty bad. Everyone wound up getting their ties and vests and they ordered a new tie for my husband, but it was VERY annoying to not have them on the day they said they were going to be ready. Lucky we all live near one!
