Review of my sister's 8/13/05 wedding at Gurney's Inn Montauk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No disclaimers-here we go.

The weather A-: -it was insanely hot, yet there was a breeze off the beach, and since we got there on Friday, we had time to enjoy the beach!!!!! Thank god it didn't rain.

The Shepherd's Neck Inn B: where a lot of the family and friends stayed (those who couldn't get a reservation, or like me couldn't afford to stay at Gurney's.) The people that ran it were really disorganzied. The grounds were nice enough, the rooms were standard-nothing fancy.

John-our banquet manager at Gurney's-A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ he was phenominal, there really are no words to describe how well he handled everything from when we booked it, and the day of, he was amazing.

Zelco-our MD-A+ he kept us running smoothly, everything went off without a hitch.

Flowers by Liz-B+ the flowers were beautiful, and the price was great-

Serenity Hair and Makeup-

Natalie-Makeup-A+++++++++ Natalie was relaxing and did a great job. Our makeup stayed on all day, and didn't run (which is a great thing in 100 degree weather) She was wonderful.

Michelle-Hair-C Michelle did a great job with everyone's hair, and Tara looked beautiful, and it stayed in all night, even thru the bonfire-here's the problem-the Thursday before the wedding Michelle called my sister demanding more money, or she wouldn't show up. We got hustled-I don't know why we didn't make her sign a contract. It was really unprofessional, and I think it reflects badly on both of them.

Silverfox Photographers/Photojournalists/Videographer-A++++++++++++ so far. They were a lot of fun to work with, really professional but also amusing. They were low key, and the knew what they were doing-I'll repost after pics come in!!!!

Kameleon-THE BEST BAND EVER-A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ THe band made the wedding, the were awesome, we have been getting phone calls and everyone compliments the band. They played the flute and keyboard during the ceremony, saxophone and keyboard for cocktail hour, and then it was a 9 piece band for the reception-they did every different kind of music and it was all awesome.

Kleinfelds-The Brides Dress-A+ it was simple and easy for my sister to pick out her gown, and the place is so professional, they take the stress out of it. The dress was a Reem Acra, and it was gorgeous, the woman who did her alterations was named Mariela (she works at Kleinfelds) she did a great job. It was all perfect.

The Wedding Center (Commack)-The Bridesmaid Dresses and MOB dress-B-we only ordered the dresses there, all alterations were done elsewhere. The wedding center had the best prices, but it was dingy and the staff was not the best. We knew what we were looking for when we walked in which is why it worked out.

Gurney's Inn, Montauk-A++++
The place was lovely. The beach was well groomed, the staff was great down there, setting up lounge chairs, and getting towels, it was really nice. The ceremony was set up perfectly. The chairs, and aisle runner were up early, and it was perfect. The cocktail hour was hot, but awesome. It was on the outter deck, the bartenders were busy cranking out drinks to cool down the crowd. The passed hors de ourves were good, but for the most part people inhaled the raw bar (ice cold clam, oysters and shrimp-YUMMY).
The Reception room was lovely-the first course was pasta in a light pamodoro sauce, it was good, gave our tummy's a good base to drink on, the salad was mixed green with apricots and gorgonzola, and almonds in a vinegrette-not my style, but it looked pretty. Dinner choice were filet mignon, chicken rollatini, and potato encrusted sea bass. The filet was cooked to perfection. One person at my table had the chicken and said it was pretty good. My father had the sea bass, and said it was great.
The cake was chocolate with bananas and strawberries, very yummy-and the pastries and chocolate covered strawberries were really good.
The bonfire was awesome. Gurney's set up the fire, and chairs, and some coolers. Security was there, but the let us have a blast, everything was great!!!!!!!

I am so happy she had a great day! I was dying to hear about Kameleon- I was hoping they would be as great as they were at my wedding. I keep telling brides to check them out- they were flawless.

I know- They were definately the best wedding band I have ever heard and that included NYSwing which is over 12,000! I will keep recommending them!

We really liked it there.. but in the end it was just too far away for everyone to travel, I'm so happy her day went well!
