Addressing Etiquette?

Addressing Etiquette?

How do you address a bridal shower invitation for a married woman:
Mrs. John Smith or
Mrs. Jane Smith?

Where two married women live in the same house do you send them one invitation or two?

Where you are inviting mother and daughter...one invitation or two?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Re: Addressing Etiquette?

Hi Annie,

When addressing envelopes the proper way for addressing a married woman would be
Mrs. John Smith

However, on bridal shower invitations many brides choose to use the more informal way of addressing it by using
Mrs. Margaret Smith

When sending to a mother and daughter - I would suggest sending two invitations if the daughter is 16 or over.

When sending to two married women at the same residence then I would send each their own invitation.

You can be a little less formal on bridal shower invitations than on the wedding invitations. I have seen the informal used more often but it is really up to your personal style!

Hope this helps - Happy planning!

Kathy
