Balloon Centerpieces--need help with the weight part

We are having 8 balloons for each centerpiece. I just need some creative ideas for the weight part.
I don't want the normal weights that Party City has. I did see at a party that I peeked into where the weight was a plastic tray with sections that has all sorts of candies in it. Which we liked alot. Just wondering how the balloons would be attached to it. The tray had a clear lid over it.

Any other ideas or anyone that can help me do something?

Hi CW,

There are so many different ideas for weights. If you like the idea of the candy trays, they can be wrapped with pretty ribbon and the balloons can come out of the center of the bow. This way your guests would not be eating the candy which would make the weight no longer a weight! Or if you would rather do wrapped candies like kisses in a nice glass bowl then the balloons could be attached to the bottom of the bowl with a tab-the glass would weigh down the balloons and the guests could then eat the candy. Either way this could be given to someone at the end of the night to take home!

You can also use fresh flowers on the table and have the balloons come up from the center of the flowers. Use a bottle of champagne with the balloons attached with cascading ribbons, etc.
