A long time ago I booked a band named Phoenix. I now am getting literature in the mail that they changed their neame to Milestone and joined a new company. they also added 2 singers! What if I didn't want the band to change? My contract unfortunately doesn't say the band member names, but why wouldn't they call me in person? I booked a totally different band. I am going to call them tomorrow morning. Anyone else have this problem? What should I do then?

Phoenix is an excellent band and hopefully the new affiliation/additions will make them even better! Check your contract and see what it says about substitutions. Perhaps they can offer you the opportunity to hear the new band. If you are pleased... great! If not, they may let you out of the agreement if you wish to get someone else. I do understand your frustration though. I played in many wedding bands over the years and the situation you describe is unfortunately common, especially if you book well in advance. That is why I became Music by Michael, a DJ/MC that never substitutes or subcontracts. Good luck!

I would ask to hear at least a tape of the new band, and if you don''t like them see what part of your money you would lose by cancelling. I definitly understand what you are saying, that you want what was originally set up. Good luck, and I''m sure everything will turn out fine in the end.
