Re: Butterflies
You are looking to have someone bring you butterflies in a cage-like devise to release? I have NEVER heard of that. Normally these horrible people put the butterflies in little envelopes that are flat! Then they mail you them. Some are dead, some are confused, some try to fly and die. It is a torture event for them. Petal tosses never heart anyone or anything.

Re: Butterflies
I have seen ads for this in the backs of wedding magazines. I hate those little flat butterfly-killer releases but there are places that will bring the butterflies in a white rattan covered basket and release them for you.
Good luck

The Dove releases are beautiful... I have seen it and it is still not to common so it will make your weddind unique. And you know they are alive in the basket.

Re: Butterflies
I have a question on the dove release which I am really thinking about. Do you do the petal toss and also the dove release or is it one or the other? For one my church FORBIDS (my priest stressed it this much) against throwing anything in the church. But I LOVE the petal throwing at us when we walk out of the church. BUT I also want to do the dove release. So I am stumped. Can we do both or only one?

Re: Butterflies
the only thing i know of was that you ordered them like that and kind of prepare a basket/cage type thing to do yourself.

Re: Butterflies
Butterflies is not the way to go. They seem like a nice idea, but...........most of the time they are dead or about to die. I agree with Michele31.....It's not a nice thing to do.
The Dove Release is very pretty. It makes for gorgeous pictures and video. The doves are pets and when released, they fly home.
Try calling Lillian from 'Love is in the Air' (516) 352-0632. She takes great pride in her doves and loves them very much. Lovely lady. You will be impressed.
Rose Petals are the best for video. You can release doves then as you are leaving, have your guests throw the rose petals. It looks so nice in pictures and on video.
Good Luck, Marie

Re: Butterflies
Be very careful with butterfly releases. A number of brides were surprised to find some of the butterflies damaged when released and could not fly. If you are having a dove release at a church-check with the church as to their policy. A number of churches have stopped allowing the dove release because of the problems with bird dropings. Again this is something to be aware of. You do not need a surprise on your wedding day. Hi Soon2babride; I might have an alternative for you if you have your heart set on butterflies. I have paper butterflies that you wind up and place in cards. When your guests open the cards...they fly out! The ushers can give each guest an envelope when they are seated and instuctions can be printed on the front. Let me know if you would like more info!
