It's okay to have an odd number of ushers to bridesmaids. Many times I've seen two ushers walking down one bridesmaid.

Or perhaps he can give a special toast.

I agree with Mark and would not worry about it. More and more weddings are having uneven numbers in the bridal party. I have played weddings without any bride's maids- only ushers. Two of the weddings I am playing this week have two more ushers than bride's maids. One solution is have two ushers come in with one bride's maid.
One of the weddings I am playing this week -the bride has two more ushers than bride's maids and she is having both ushers come in together. You will find there are many more important things to worry about concerning the wedding. The most important thing is to try to eliminate as much stress and worry as possible and concentrate on the wonderful life ahead of you. I hope this helps you feel better knowing you are not alone in this situation and it really is not a major problem to worry about.

Kimmie,

I meant to reply to your post earlier. Sorry I got a little caught up. Well if the reason you 'cant' have another usher is because it will be uneven , that I would totally not worry about. It is very common to have uneven numbers in the bridal party. No one will even notice! With the ceremony you can have a lovely trio instead of a couple thats all. And for grand introductions into your ballroom, It just makes it that much more fun with a cool looking trio come out with huge smiles. It'll make a great pic i'm sure !

Let me know what you decide.

PS. If you just don't want another usher for another reason , depending on what type of ceremony your having , how about having the gentlemen deliver a reading at the church ? Hey, its a thought.

Hope it works out

Perhaps you could invite him to do a reading?
