I just started calling around to make appointments to try on dresses. And after looking through several magazines and ripping out the dresses I liked, I found that most of the designer lines could be found at Paradise Bridal in Patchogue and Bridal Reflections in Massapequa.
Well Paradise Bridal was very polite and booked me right away. I know that they have dresses for under 1K b/c a couple of my friend's bought their dresses there.
However, when I called Bridal Reflections, the woman was very curt and she more or less told me that she only has SIX gowns in that price range for me to try on. She then went on to say 'Well why don't you think about it and if these don't fit within your range, you should cancel the appt.' Yikes! Not only did I think she was rude, but she insulted me as well!
Can anyone on this board recommend bridal shops that are PLEASANT and eager to please - and treat all brides equally? Does anyone know where I can go to look at nice dresses in the 1k and under range?
I really appreciate this. My mother is a nurse and only has every other Saturday free, and I am a March bride, so I am cutting it close!
thanks a million! willow

Re: Dresses for 1K? Bridal Shops?
Willow; I recommend Helen's Private Collection in Commack. They are located in Wedding World on Austin Blvd right off Motor Parkway just past Syms. I always found them to be very nice, affordable and accomodating from personal experience as well as professional. Their # is (631) 543-6300.
Best wishes and happy wedding planning,

Re: Dresses for 1K? Bridal Shops?
Hi Willow, I have sent a few Brides to Lidia's Bridal Boutique. They were quite happy - it is a family run business and they treat people very nice there. They have many selections for under $1,000. They are located at 1733 Great Neck Road, Copiague (right next to the train station) 631-264-1234. Please feel free to use my name.
Good luck and Happy hunting!

Re: Dresses for 1K? Bridal Shops?
Dear Willow:
Check out Burtons Bridal in Melville, ask for Carol. While I've have heard pros and cons about this shop from others, you will probably get the best price on any dress your are looking for if they carry that brand. I, in fact, got my wedding gown there which was around $600 less than Macy's for the same exact gown, as well as the best price for by BM's dresses.
Also, my dress included a free headpiece, and I believe the alterations for my dress and the BM's were capped at a certain price.
