I am tossed between a Fri or Sun wedding at Oheka. I live in Brooklyn and the mass will be held in Bklyn with the reception to follow at Oheka in LI. Which day do you guys suggest is the better????

Re: Fri or Sun - lets hear from the vendors........
I happen to like Sunday Weddings, maybe because I was married on a Sunday!
I think it allows you to have an entire weekend of wedding events. For example, when I got married we had the RD on Friday night, Saturday we picked up our dresses and had a Bridemaid's Luncheon on Shelter Island while the guys played glof - then spent Saturday afternoon being pampered getting our nails and toes done before the main event on Sunday!
The wedding goes so fast - I think a Sunday wedding lets you enjoy the entire experience.
Thats just my preference, but really a wedding will be wonderful whenever you choose - your eyes will sparkle and the smile the two of you share will be the same regardless of the day!
Good Luck!

If you are having the Mass in Brooklyn on a Friday-do not forget that you will have tremendous traffic heading out to Long Island from Brooklyn-any time of the day on a Friday. The last thing you need is to be late or have your guests late due to traffic. From 1 PM on driving to Long Island from Brooklyn becomes very difficult. Definitely go for the Sunday. Hi swqeetness, I would have to agree with Stan, Friday night traffic from Brooklyn to Long Island can be a nightmare. I know I get stuck in it a lot.
We had our daughters wedding on Friday night and did a lot of stressing about the traffic as well as her wedding ceremony was in Queens and the Reception was in Syosset. We made it on time but did stress a lot about it. The other thing to consider is that a lot of people may not go to the church on a Friday but will go straight to the reception.
Whichever day you pick I am sure it will be wonderful!
Hope this helps - happy planning!

That certainly is a tough one. We were married the Friday of Labor Day weekend to give everyone a jump start to their holiday weekends and it worked out great. I can see a big concern with the traffic though. Sunday may be the best way to go. I like 'Everything But The Bride's' idea. It certainly can add to the excitement that the big day is coming by having events planned for Friday & Saturday. As a guest I would have to say that I enjoy Friday weddings better because you don't have to worry about going to work in the morning, but, with your travel time and traffic situation, I think Sunday might work best for you.
Good luck

I also seem to enjoy Friday night weddings because everyone seems to be 'up' and looking to unwind and have a good time. However, with regard to the traffic situation, I would tend to agree with the other vendors to have it on Sunday. Just wondering what time your mass is scheduled? If you have a 3 o'clock mass, you could consider a later reception time on Friday, but you and your guests will, unfortunately, sit in traffic for a while.
Think overall about how you would like the day to flow for you and your guests, and Sunday seems like it would be less stressful.

I think both dates are great, it just depends on your restrictions or desires. Personally, my guests find a Friday wedding an enjoyable way to kick-off the weekend, but remember many people may not attend both the ceremony and the reception if it interferes with their work schedule.
A sunday wedding does allow for a bit more flexibility with starting times, but also remember that the times for your ceremony may be from a narrow selection.
I personally book Friday wedings more often than Sunday during my busy season, and with a very high turn out rate!
