Re: Hawaiian Musician(s)

Greetings,

I suspect this might be difficult in the New York area, much easier in California. I love Hawaiian music, have studied it and heard it in the islands (I have family there so we go there fairly often). As you probably know, truly authentic music from Hawai'i doesn't necessarily sound like Don Ho (although that can be great too).

One thing you can try is to call some dance studios and see if they teach Hula. If they do, they might know of some Hawaiians who are living in New York who perform for them, who might perform for you. (Or, alas, the dancers might be using recorded music.) Gigmasters.com might also have a group.

Hope you find what you're looking for!

Peace&music
