invitation questions

Can someone help me with the following questions?

What would be the correct wording on my invitation if we're having our ceremony and reception at the same place? Should I specify
when the cermony and reception starts since people might not what to attend both?

When do I have to send out my invitations and what should be the RSVP deadine?

Thanks~

Re: invitation questions

Hi TinaTan,

You usually speficy the time of the ceremony and then at the bottom of the invitation you can word it like this:

Reception immediately following the ceremony

You should send your invitations out at least 8 weeks prior to the wedding and your RSVP is usually a month prior to the wedding unless there are special circumstances that you would need responses back sooner like at a destination wedding.

Hope this answers some of your questions. If you have any more please feel free to ask.

Happy planning!

Re: invitation questions

I agree with Kathy's response! Invites should be sent out 6 to 8-weeks in advance. Give yourself a good month for rsvp's... you will most likely have to track down the late rsvp'ers (there's always a few) and in my opinion, it's nicer to get this out of the way earlier, so you can focus on other important things: a massage, a manicure, a pedicure...

Another option is to include a line on the bottom of the invite using a smaller font saying: Reception to follow ceremony at ____ o'clock in the (afternoon, evening.)

I hope this helps. Good luck! Laura-- LA Productions [email protected]

Re: invitation questions

If, in fact, your reception is immediately following the ceremony then --your invitation would reflect just that --

Reception immediately following the ceremony

If the circumstances are--say:

Ceremony begins at six o' clock in the evening

Reception following at half past seven

Then you would indicate this as above -- however, it would NEVER be in a smaller point size font --
The Reception is not an afterthought and
should not be treated as such ---the Reception information should be at the same point size of font as the ceremony particulars are at --
footnotes to the Invitation -- such as
Black Tie Optional can be at either the same size or a smaller font size--(however, not the Reception info) --

Two schools of thought on when to send these days ---
Summer Wedding -- Has a Save-the Date
been sent or not???-'B-List' or not???

1) Send 6 to 8 weeks prior to Wedding Date with an RSVP Date of 4 weeks prior to big wedding date

2) Send 8 to 10 weeks prior to Wedding Date
with an RSVP Date of 6 weeks prior

Either one works these days --

Hope that your questions have been answered

Best of Luck with all and if you should have any further questions --please do not hesitate to contact me --
