What date should I have as my 'please respond by' date on my response cards? My wedding is February 16, 2003.

Re: Invitation Questions....Help!
Hi Michele; I usually suggest to make the response date about 2 weeks prior to when you have to give your caterer a final count. This way, you have time to contact people who haven't responded. So if your wedding is on the 16th and you have to give your final count 1 week prior, then I would suggest using January 26th.
You need to list the reply date as 4 weeks prior to the wedding. Most caterers want a final count 10 days to 2 weeks prior to the wedding. You will always have to call some of the invites who have not replied. You will need the time for this. The caterers I am associated with tell the brides to have the response date 4 weeks prior to the reception. Michele:
I agree with the other responses and recommend a response date of 1 month prior to the date of the wedding, allowing you time to follow-up on guests that have not responded (which I think is terrible, but it happens all the time) as well as time to prepare your placecard and table arrangements. Also, since your wedding is the 16th of the month, I usually like to select a date that guest may remember like January 15th.
Good Luck!

I agree with the 1-month before date. Keep in mind that you will have some 'no responses' and having the RSVP date 4-weeks before will give you a little time to send out new invitations to your B-list, or to call them and invite them personally.
