I have been flipping through the invitation catalogs and am confused between the different cards. Anyone know what the 'informal cards' are for? Can I use them as Save-The-Date Cards so that they can all be coordinated? Also, do you think that it would be cheap-looking if I put both the church and reception information on the same card instead of having a separate reception card? This way it would save me a little money and the small reception card is easy to lose. Thanks in advance!

Invitations Question
The 'informal' is for an informal handwritten note
or Thank You note. Generally the pricing includes
one line of print on the front of the foldover card. That would be the names
of the bride and groom or a monogram. You would be charged extra for extra lines or for any printing inside of the card. So you might be better off just using a regular Save the Date Card. There are many styles that are very affordable.
As far as putting your Reception info on your Invitation itself--
--Proper etiquette really dictates that you have a separate card if the reception is held at a different venue than the ceremony. Also, logistically, it is not a great idea because you have to remember that the point size of your font on your invitation is going to be affected by the number of lines that you have.
Generally, a wedding invitation works out to be about 14 lines of copy, depending on your actual wording choice. --Then you would have to add another 4 to 5 lines for the Reception info:
Reception to be held at
seven o`clock in the evening
Name of Catering Hall
Street Address
Town, New York
You could end up with about 18 or 19 lines of copy on your invitation and in order to print all of that, they would reduce the point size of your font which is not something that you really want to happen.--You want your font to be at a point size that is easily legible and is pleasing to the eye.
If you should require any additional information, or I can assist you in any way, please don`t hesitate to contact me.
Best of Luck!!

Invitations Question
Hi Barbara;
While it is true that etiquette dictates certain things, sometimes they are not financially possible. Having all your information on one card is one way to save a little money on invitations. I have done many invitations for brides on a budget that have included all their information in 14 lines on one card. I usually suggest a print or a clear font (typestyle) without alot of flourishes and scrolls. That way The writing will be clear and concise.
Best Wishes,
Rebecca
