Hello,

Congratulations on your engagement and up and coming wedding. To answer your question, the wedding ceremonies are civil based. Meaning they are tailored to your requirements and have no religious content in them (unless you choose to).

I will send you a forum mail describing the services and fees offered by Marriagenyc, Inc.

I am listed under NYCWEDDINGS.COM and am the officiant from the 2006 The Wedding of the Year hosted by LIWEDDINGS.COM and NYCITYWEDDINGS.COM.

Re: Justice of the Peace/Officiant

Hi Rachie and congratulations,

There have been a lot of questions like yours as of late. There is such a fine line that some couples have to walk to keep both sides of the family happy while still being true to your own needs. It is a tough decision.

If you are looking for a Justice of the Peace, that would be a judge or mayor or town clerk. Now an officiant to do a civil or a justice of the peace style ceremony will definitely make it warmer and more interesting. The only thing is that most of us do rely on our ordinations to make it legal. However the majority of those ordinations are interfaith.

There are also other things to consider, subtle distinctions (sometimes only in the wording not the action) that differentiate between 'cultural' and 'religious'. Things as simple as what side to stand on and how the entrances are made.

My advice is to meet with a couple of officiants of different styles, and then see what and who you are most comfortable with. I believe that a little piece of your officiant stays with you forever and it is so important to feel good about having that kind of relationship with whom ever you choose.

There are many examples of civil ceremonies on my website and I will also FM you one.

Wishing you the wedding of your dreams followed by years of health and happiness, love and marriage.
