Looking for a good band...preferably one that does a lot of swing and big band and isn`t too high on the cheese factor, if you know what I mean. :-) They should also be good about not allowing my crazy relatives to get up and try to sing/emcee/tell jokes/etc. Any recommendations are appreciated! I`m also looking for advice on booking from afar...how crucial is it to go see the band in person? I know so many don`t do showcases on weekends, which is the only time we could make the trip up from DC. :-( Any thoughts? Finally, curious as to how far in advance people generally book. Thanks!

Call James Faith @ 631-331-0808. He represents The Peter Duchin Orchestras as well as union musicians and bands that specialize in swing, jazz, etc. He can even customize a band to your specifications.
Also call Bob Meyers for Body Heat @ 631-473-2562.
MAKE SURE you get what you want! Don't settle! Your requirements are reasonable, sound, and attainable. You need to work with somneone that you feel comfortable enough with to create what you want.
