NYC Private CLubs - Any experience?

Hello - I realize this is a LI board, but I was wondering if anyone had worked with any of the private clubs in NYC - especially teh Down Town Association or the Lotos club. I am curious re the food & service at them both. On a more general level, I would love to know if you have been to a party where there was dinner in one room and dancing/dessert in a second room afterwards. Any tips on keeping the energy going (music, food, etc.) woudl be helpful. The idea has really grown on me but I have never seen it executed.
