Officiant

Looking for an officiant who is right for us. We are looking for a non-faith-based, non-religious ceremony. As neither of us are religious/spiritual people we feel it would be hypocritical to do anything religious or spiritual. Yet, we still would like a beautiful and meaningful ceremony.

Is there anyone who fits our needs?

Re: Officiant

Actually there are many good officiants who perform civil ceremonies. The key is in finding the one who fits you best and can convey a sense of who you are and what the day means from your perspective.

New York is not a state that allows a notary to marry people so many officiants rely upon an ordination to make your marriage legal. By the same token the civil officiants (judge, mayor) here on LIW have gone to an interfaith seminary to better understand and serve their couples. So don't let the titles hold as much sway in your decision as the willingness to work within your guidelines and quality of the ceremony.

My website is written to actually be helpful to all couples, not just the ones I get the privilege of marrying. It has many samples of my writing style, readings, marriage license, name change information, and the FAQ page has more answers than any one couple has ever asked. With all ceremonies I am on site 45 minutes to 1 hr.

before start time. I come with my own PA system, no extra fee, you get to keep the book with your ceremony that I read from and a keep sake certificate of marriage, rehearsal is included if it is at the ceremony location no more than 1 hour before the start time, and finally I mail all marriage licenses certified mail.

There's more on my FAQ & Fees pages but those were the highlights. The speaking and writing style are an important consideration for may of my couples, so the video page has 3 players and a link to my Youtube where there are 30 or so more samples.

Please feel free to call me any time if you have any questions or wish to schedule a meeting.

Wishing you both all the happiness that two people can stand in one lifetime with many healthy years to enjoy it all.
