Out of Town Planning

Out of Town Planning

I am trying to plan my wedding in Massapequa. I have already contacted the church I attended growing up, but I need help finding a reception hall nearby, reasonably priced for a Sat evening reception, 125-150 people, in Aug/Sept 2002. Any suggestions? Should I hire a wedding consultant?

Dear LeLeMay,

Even though I personally handle the invitations and favors at Sweet Nut Hut, I also have been singing professionally with a Long Island wedding band, Stan Wiest Orchestras, for 15 years. I do know in Massapequa there is The Riviera Caterers which is on the water, and reasonably priced. It also has a great outside deck overlooking the water.

Some others you may want to check out on the South Shore of Long Island would be Captain Bill's in Bay Shore which is about 20-25 minutes East from Massapequa, John Anthony's on the Water in Babylon (15-20 minutes East), and The Coral House in Baldwin/Freeport area which should only be about 15-20 minutes away (West). Also, other places such as The Fox Hollow Inn, Woodbury Country Club and Crest Hollow Country Club in the Syosset and Woodbury area are easily accessible by Route 135 heading North from Massapequa and are only about 15-20 minutes away.

Normally, when planning a wedding I find that many of the catering facilities on Long Island are able to answer most of your questions and can direct you to vendors for(i.e flowers, band/dj's/favors etc.), in addition to all the great vendors found right here on LIweddings.com. However, since you need a place for this August/September, a bridal consultant may be helpful to you in locating a reception hall quickly.

Again, if you have any other questions regarding the planning of your affair, or need information regarding invitations or favors let me know.

Good Luck!

A good wedding consultant may be worth it in your situation.
A second idea is to talk with your photographer. Remember, the photographer is with a Bride and Groom for 8-12 hours. They know most halls,
which limos to trust, which make-up people, which florists do a good job, etc., etc. Also, using a
website like the one you are on is great ! Or, any combination of the three....Good luck with your wedding planning. Using a magazine like LOCATIONS is a good place to start with for the catering hall.

Dear LeLeMay,

If you log onto www.modernbride.com there is a section of catering halls within your area. There is also price range, capacity, contact person(s), etc. listed to better accomodate you in your planning. We have had brides and grooms from out of state plan their wedding through this process.
If you are in need of a photographer, please visit our website www.camelotstudios.com or call 516-328-8774.
