Re: Photographer and Videographer?

From what I was told by my photographer it is better to use both photographer and video together. He said that the viddeographer he hires knows how to stay out of the photographers way, He said that other videographers have to be within 10 feet of the bride and groom at all times in order to get a good shot and that this sometimes gets in the way of the photographer, is this true?

Re: Photographer and Videographer?

Most professionals know how to work together and respect each other's parameters. You should hire whomever you're most comfortable with (according to your own personal preferences and priorities.)

Re: Photographer and Videographer?

Hi tarakinspa

You should hire whom ever you want. Use the vendors that fit your needs best,or whose work you like the best. More importantly if you have a vendor who says he can't work with other outside vendors than you should reconsider that vendor!!! Most of us are professionals and can work with anybody. Most of us can respect one anothers space. Most of us realize that it is your day!!! not ours. Some also try scare tactics to get you to use them. This is not the first and won't be the last time. But in the end, most brides realize what the truth is. I have no problem with a client using another vendor because they liked their work more than ours, but please don't be intimidated!!!!!!!!!!!! As for the ten foot rule,I have never heard of this, thats what zoom is for. I have worked with many photographers and have never had a complaint. If there is someone in particular he doesn't like than he should tell you who it is so you could make the decision as to use them or not.The photographer also said the videographer (he) hires.Do you meet this person to make sure you like them and their work or is it more important for him to feel comfortable with the videographer . These are important questions.

Re: Photographer and Videographer?

Hi Bill,
sorry didnt remember to check the vendor boards for a while.
I am sure it was just a way for him to sell his product but it did seem funny, no matter anyway i wasnt crazy about the video, but the free DVD was very attractive. Guess I'll continue searching.
Thanks Again
