I was wondering would a caterer let someone else supply the alcohol and only charge a service fee or handing out drinks. I have a friend who is a liquor distributor and am wondering If I would be able to stock the bar and avoid paying a caterer. Would there be any other issues I am missing?

Hello and congratulations,
In answer to your question, I believe that your best bet on the matter would be to find a place that does not come with liquor. This way the profit margin from the bar will not already be figured in to the per plate quote that you will be given.
