Tavel agents, please explain this one?

I sent out a mass email to a bunch of travel agents- some of whom are LIW vendors. One TA told me that the hotel I suggested was a 'dump' and anyone who would give me a quote for it doesn't know what they are selling. Another one emailed me with 'Hi (insert name of other TA here) SHE SENT IT TO US ALSO!! I will not respond to her!!'

Um, IS IT WRONG TO ASK VENDORS FOR QUOTES?!?!?!
