Anyone who mentions the word tax, administrative fee, etc in a contract is definitely someone you should avoid. There is no tax on performing services- either DJ or Band services. This person is simply pocketing the extra money. A bride recently contacted me about a contract she was given that added the gratuity into the fee in the contract . If any gratuity is given - it should be based on the services rendered by the performer and a decision should not be made until the end of the function-it should never be assumed. Anyone who adds gratuity fee to a contract in advance is another vendor you should totally avoid.
Several years ago I was interviewed by Bridal Guide Magazine and the issue of the tax came up. I mentioned (in the interview) that there was no tax on performing services. It was amazing how many vendors (no one associated with liweddings) called me and complained that I was causing them to lose extra money by mentioning there was no tax in the article. Check with your accountant. He will tell you the same thing.
