Can anyone help me with my situation? I was offered a great deal to have my wedding on Labor Day. My ceremony starts at 11am at St. Cyril's Church in Deer Park. I figure that after the ceremony and the receiving line and yada yada, we won't be leaving for pictures until at least 11:45. My cocktail hour at John Anthony's in Babylon starts at 1pm. I am concerned about a location for the pictures because the only 'picturesque' place for photos (that I know of) is the Arboretum in Connetquot (I refuse to go to Argyle Park because it has become quite decrepid). However, I really, really would like to try and make at least a half-hour of the cocktail hour since it sounds as if many brides become disappointed when they miss theirs. If we're lucky, I figure it's a 20 minute ride each way between the arboretum and John Anthonys, which gives me about a maximum of an hour for pictures. Is this enough time? I know that some people take photos with their fiance before the ceremony (which I don't mind doing) but where do people usually take them? In front of their house?Does anyone have suggestions as to what they did? I don't want to be stressed out about the time on my wedding day, so ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Timing for pictures
I would think an hour is plenty of time for any photographer for all the posed family and bridal party pictures. I work more quickly then most, so don't go by me. We can do all the posed pictures really quickly (and enjoyably) in 15 minutes to a half hour max and would get you in for the entire cocktail hour. I would suggest taking all the posed pictures of family and bridal party at the Church and then you can see how much time you have left to go to the Arboretum. If you're willing to take the formal posed pictures before the ceremony with both of you and as many family/bridal party combinations as possible then that solves the problem (it just gives you extra time after the Church.)

Time Dilemma (a little long)
Barbara,Hi my name is Larry from mirror image photography, time is tight but very possible.
since you don't mind seeing each other, taking as many photo's before hand is a good idea.also have you thought about skipping the recieving line and walk around at the reception to greet people'it would save you alot of time'.If those options don't sound good i photograph in such a manner that is fast and efficient.I work on a time schedule. If i can be of any assistance call (631)588-1955.

Time Dilemma (a little long)
It is so great that you are seriously and realistically considering time on your wedding day. Good timing is 95% of what is needed for you to (1) Enjoy everything and not be stressed or chased by Murphy's Law (2) get great photographs ---well above average--and still enjoy everything and miss nothing. If you do not see each other before the ceremony, whether or not you have the receiving line will be an important decision. Realistically, it is one event that is most out of your hands and the photographers. Sometimes, receiving lines get stretched out more than you plannned, and then you will feel rushed later.
If you see each other before the ceremony, which is 50 times more romantic the way we do it, you now have opened up all of Long Island for photography and fun. We don't charge for the overtime, and we can sugest many locations. Look on our website for on-line weddings with photos at Bayard Cutting Arboreteum, Planting Fields Arboreteum in Oyster Bay, Old Westbury Gardens,
the new Avalon area in Stonybrook, etc. We Photograph in a unique way as a husband-and-wife
