Most of my vendors are owners of their businesses (Florist is delivering everything herself and it's her business, photographer, DJ, hairstylist, day-of-coordinator).
Is it ok just to tip assistants and non-business owners on the day such as the Photographer's second shooter and the makeup person, and send a tip along with a thank you card to the business owners? We could have our day-of-coordinator let them know we're doing it.
That way we can give extra to those who go the extra mile etc, and not have to be thinking about how much we want to tip at the end of the day. I know a lot of people put it in envelopes in the beginning, but I tip extra for those who do a great job.
Plus, do business owners expect a tip or will it be a nice surprise anyway?

Re: Tip question
As a band leader, DJ or MC, I never depend or expect a tip. You're already paying for the service. I feel that tips are ABSOLUTELY OPTIONAL. If you feel the service merits an 'above and beyond' rating, then any tip you may offer, should be taken as a special compliment. Good Luck! ...Des ======================= Burke Entertainment 631-286-4168 [email protected]
