Tipping question?

Tipping question?

Can you please tell me what vendors we are EXPECTED to tip? I know (think) tipping is kind of required for some vendors but just a nice bonus for others.

I think this would really help a lot of us brides out. Thank you!

Oh, and if you can give a generalized amount/percentage to tip also, that would be great!

Re: Tipping question?

This is taken from the 'Facts' section of my website.

Do we need to tip the s.d. mack events' DJs?

Our business is a service industry and as in all others, gratuities are greatly appreciated - however, they are not required.

The bottom line is if you are satisfied or blown away by the excellent service you received from vendors, you should use your judgment in tipping.

I've received tips from $50 to $300. I'll never forget the couple who tipped me $300 for a very modest wedding at the New York Firehouse Museum. It was totally unexpected and I thought my performance was good. Apparently they thought it was awesome! I concentrate on making things perfect. Sometimes, it’s hard to tell what people are thinking when they're having fun.

Also, don't be afraid to ask vendors what people have given them in the past, as well. And, for God's sake take a look at my website www.sdmack.com and get some good information.

Take care,

Hi There....
I just wanted to add a reply. You are EXPECTED to tip the Maitre'D of your catering facility. Although most places charge 18% of the bill (minus the tax...you can't add gratuity onto tax so make sure they don't do that!). That being said....my cousin was not happy with his caterer on the day of his wedding and they came to me to ask me what they should do.
Tipping is something that you determine by the service you receive (and of course your pocketbook). My band has received upwards of $500 as a tip and I have received up to $600 for my services as bandleader and overall party coordinator. This doesn't happen all the time since most people can't afford to tip EVERYBODY.

To me a great tip is someone like you who would post a great review of my services and let other brides know how satisfied you were. Future business from recommendations is worth as much or more than a monetary tip.
