Hi. I have my reception booked at the Fox Hollow already, but I'm starting to second guess myself. I decided to look at a few more places, and was very happy to find that the Vanderbilt mansion is in my price range. I was very surprised since most other mansion properties are alot more expensive. Does anyone have any feedback, I haven't seen many posts about it? Thanks!

Re: Vanderbilt Mansion
Both the Fox Hollow and the Vanderbilt Mansion do a beautiful reception. With the Fox Hollow you have the benefit of everything on premesis and the benefit of a excellent planning coordinator on premesis with Joe Salerno and Perfect Wedding Planner. They can help you with every detail in making your wedding unique to your wishes. You should attend one of the seminars they give for brides. Every aspect of the wedding is gone through in fine detail. Every bride I have worked with who had her wedding at the Fox Hollow absolutely raved about the food and the service. At the Fox Hollow the food does not have to be brought in and you do not have to worry about any possible delays in service. I personally prefer the Fox Hollow and their professional approach to a wedding but I do not have any negative comments on the Vanderbilt Mansion. I wish I could be of more help -both are lovely locations. The final decision is up to you. Best of luck in your upcoming wedding planning. Re: Vanderbilt Mansion
Stan is absolutely right about the Fox Hollow's advantage of one-stop-shopping. They do a very professional job all around. However, you will most likely be sharing your day with other events being held there too. This might be a reason to consider the Vanderbilt. You will have the facility all to yourself, but the drawback is that you must be more involved and put more pieces of the puzzle together yourself. I, myself, got married in the mansion several years ago and have wonderful memories but it was a lot of work. Feel free to call me and discuss my professional and personal experiences with both places. ...Des ============================= BURKE ENTERTAINMENT PO Box 26 Bellport, NY 11713 631-286-4168 [email protected] www.BurkeEntertainment.com

Re: Vanderbilt Mansion
The Vanderbilt Mansion was recently taken over by Lovin' Oven caterers and all food is cooked on premise. They have a banquet manager there as well, to help with all of the details. I'm still undecided though.

Re: Vanderbilt Mansion
Des had an excellent comment you should strongly consider- it will be a lot more work and preparation on your part if you change from the Fox Hollow. You have the convenience of everything being done for you at the Fox Hollow. As you get closer to your wedding are you going to have the extra time it will take to put all the pieces together? This is something you should very seriously consider. I will be speaking at the Fox Hollow seminar for brides tonight ( Monday). If you are attending the seminar tonight please feel free to talk to me about this . STAN WIEST A.STAN WIEST MUSIC www.stanwiest.comStan Wiest WebsiteStan Wiest Email

Re: Vanderbilt Mansion
both are really nice places vanderbilt definatly has alot of old world charm and is run by lovin oven, which are the same caterers as flowerfield, lands end, west lake(felices) and island hills cc. doing all the rest is a bit of work but it definatly makes you feel like your wedding is you own. ask some of your other vendor, each have there own favorites that they have worked with before and know from experience who is good and who isn't don't just rely on your caterer solely. some of your servicing vendors that travel to service run into alot more people , not to say foxhollow doesn't have it togeather i've worked there to and they also do a great job. go with your heart this is your special day. heather

Re: Vanderbilt Mansion
Good Morning Lauren,
The Vanderbilt Mansion in a Lovin Oven property, we are the same owners/caterers as Land's End and Flowerfield. We acquired the mansion approx. two years ago. and it is an absolutely lovely setting. You can speak to (if you haven't already) Carolyn and she will be more than happy to assist you in your wedding plans. Good Luck in making your decision. Kerry

Re: Vanderbilt Mansion
Thanks for all of the input. The only thing I am concerned about is the size and shape of the room at the Vanderbilt Mansion. I will have about 120-130 guests and I also would like a band. Will the room be too crowded? The room max is 152, but it looks like that would be tight to me.

Re: Vanderbilt Mansion
Hi! Just thought I'd put my two cents in, ha ha. Both properties are beautiful and you wouldn't go wrong with either one of them. About the size of the room at Vanderbilt. We just did a wedding there, actually two, within the last two weeks, and they redesigned how the room was set up from previous times we had been there. They had put the band, I believe there were 8 pieces, in front of the fireplace and the tables were all put down at the far end away from the band. I believe my bride had 13 or 14 tables and this proved to be a much better alternative to the older way, in our opinion. It opened up the dance floor and gave the guest the whole width of the room in which to dance. Previously it had the dance floor between the rows of tables lengthwise in the room. There was plenty of room and the sunset there was just incredible from all the ballroom windows. They do a superb job and the food is outstanding. I would think that for 120 guest you would be just fine. Good luck with your planning and I hoped our insight helped

Re: Vanderbilt Mansion
Thanks for all of your help. I went back to the Vanderbilt Mansion today and decided to book it. It was a difficult decision though, since both places have a great reputation.
