Vendor Meals... Please help!!!

Vendor Meals... Please help!!!

Okay, big problem.... Just found out my hall charges the full price for vendors meals, which means somewheres around 260 with tax a head for my vendors.... Obviously, I want to feed my vendors but I have 16 to feed!!! Ahhh! That is so much money. I suggested to someone today to cater them pizzas and italian platters of salads and ziti or lasagna or something, but my friend said that was insulting. The difference in price is significant obviously $200 vs. $4000... What is the right thing to do? Will the vendors understand? Or does this look obnoxious? After all, they are working that night... They are not guests, but I don't want to be mean. And they will get tipped, obviously. What should I do??? This is hard.

I do work in the wedding band industry also, and the fact that they want to charge you full-price is crazy, and it's true, many times brides pay for the full meal, and we get only the dinner served.

I think that the outside catering idea is great, that is if the catering facility will allow you to 'bring in other food.' Sometimes we are allowed to eat at the cocktail hour prior to the affair. In all cases, the band appreciates it if they are fed.

Hi Marisa,

Wow! They are charging you a fortune!

It is aprreciated when vendors are fed.
Some of your vendors are with you all day and do need to eat. Now what they eat is totally up to you.

I see nothing wrong with catering your food from an outside source. I think it is better and wiser for you to feed them than to have them leave your recpetion for a dinner break. After all, they/we have to eat.

I would suggest catering platters of cold cuts, breads, relish trays, salads, etc. plus sodas.
Make sure it is done the same time your guests eat
dinner.

Good Luck!

another possibility is to use the meals from no shows (which you get charged for anyway!)

Full price is really crazy! especially @ THAT price!
