I say left, she says right. Front? Back. Round? Square.

Frankly, I'm sick of my FMIL.

I've been with FH for 7 years. She's never been the most pleasant person in the world, but MAN - she's getting worse and worse as this wedding gets closer.

This weekend, FILs showed up for my grad party...they said hello to my family, got food -then sat in a separate room, ate, and left. When a member of my family asked FMIL how she was doing, she snapped back, 'NOT GOOD', and that's it....

So my family member is being cordial and starts making conversation with the FILs...she said (to them), 'You must be getting excited - the wedding is getting closer and closer everyday! 6 months now, right?'
FMIL snapped back with 'THAT'S NOT CLOSE. 6 MONTHS IS A LONG TIME, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.'

Come on now...who does this?!

Last week, she put down my invitations - called them boring and ugly.

She is constantly throwing out digs about how I'm limiting her guestlist. Excuse me, all of the family is invited, but I am NOT inviting your former co-worker, simply because you gave their son a wedding gift 8 years ago. She has more guests than my parents, and US - and guess who's paying?!?! NOT HER, that's for sure!

She pries info out of FH by snooping around his things, and then talks to people all over town about it. I get myspace comments from the children of her former co-workers (yes - NOT INVITED!) referencing PRIVATE DETAILS of my plans!

She keeps telling people that I had to pick a WEIRD date and ruin Thanksgiving for her....and that her entire extended family is mad at me because I ruined Thanksgiving. (Our wedding is the night after Thanksgiving.)

Last month, she said that they (FMIL and FFIL) were going to Atlantic City for Father's Day. A friend of ours is getting a few rooms in Montauk that weekend, so we told him we'd go. SUNDAY, at my graduation party, FH is talking about Montauk, and his mother blurts out - you better be home, son - it's Father's Day. FH said, 'But you said you weren't going to be around, so we made other plans.' She comes back with, 'You best be changing your plans, sonny boy, [WTFFFF- WHO SAYS THAT] or you'll just have to live with the guilt. We can never know which Father's Day will be the last.'

HOLY MOTHER OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST - pray for me.

I am not one to be bothered by what others say...but I just keep wearing down and wearing down....and its starting to really get to me!

Boy does she sound like a very pleasant woman. I give you credit for not flipping out on her. I know it is easier said than done but try to ignore her and if I were you, I would never invite her to anything anymore and let her know that she and her nasty attitude are not invited to places and family functions!

Re: I say left, she says right. Front? Back. Round? Square.

yeah, that's pretty bad

good grief... all you can do is develop teflon skin and let it all slide by. She's obviously a miserable person, and if you let her get to you, she'll just drag you down into her ugly world....

keep your chin up, and your distance!

Honestly, I think she is clinically depressed.
(cause I'm a licensed diagnostician....pffft! yeah right.)

I know she's currently on anti-depressants (to curb her smoking), but they certainly don't have the dosage/drug correct.

He has....I've witnessed it....unfortunately, it doesn't work. It just adds him to the $hit list too.

Around the time of my birthday (in feb), we invited her over for cake and coffee. She said MAYBE. He asked her what her problem was with my family, and she said, 'I'm not not comfortable around those people.' FH asked her what that was supposed to mean, and she said that we're too stuffy.

Why, because we wear shirts at the dinner table? Or refrain from blowing our noses with our dinner napkins? Or farting while eating? Or wait - the best yet - we use UTENSILS, not our fingers?! (Yep, FFIL is guilty of all of the above.)

She made fun of my family because we eat french fries with forks.
Come on now.

(I heard the whole conversation - he had her on speakerphone)

Re: I say left, she says right. Front? Back. Round? Square.

wow she sounds like a handful, definitly not something you should be dealing with while planning a wedding and stressing you out even more. Im really sorry she's doing this to you and your family, she must be clinically depressed, normal people would be happy about their child getting married and wouldnt talk and act the way she does. Keep your head up and stay strong.

Re: I say left, she says right. Front? Back. Round? Square.

First let me say that I am sorrry that you are going through all of this!!! Your FMIL sounds like she is out of control. Part of me says that you & your FH should confront her and letting her know how what she is saying & doing really bothers you. Another part of me says try to not to let her get to you and let it slide. Why should you have to bring yourself down to her level.

We just keep letting it go and letting it go.

FH knows how its starting to get to me...he keeps telling me to blow it all off..

I'm trying!!!

I find it hard to be in the same room with her.

Re: I say left, she says right. Front? Back. Round? Square.

Anyway, thanks so much for the hugs.

I was starting to think I was bridezilla or something, by the way she's treating me.

I can't believe I forgot this part....she hasn't thought about starting to look for a dress yet....but she knows that she definitely wants to wear black because she's 'losing her little boy'.

is it possible to limit your interaction with her? how close is FH to her? IMO, he should confront her and ask her what her problem is!!!

Don't worry, you are not turning into a bridezilla!! You have got to be kidding about her wanting to get a black dress because she is 'losing her little boy'.
