Hey guys, I just posted my hair trial pics in my album. Check them out. Also, I'm decided on the updo, but the hair pins in the back, let me know which style looks better. Around in a circle along the edge or scattered, thanks girls!!

jagruti!!! your pics are amazing!! wow.. what a beautiful bride you were.. even with the mishaps you glowed..

nancy - love your hair pics! are you wearing a dupatta over it or is it for the reception?

i working on decorators right now.. event decorators ring a bell? i'm just a little bummed about the cards.. not exactly what i want also it is costing us so much in shipping and stuff..

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

It's for the reception, so no dupatta on my head, just the tiarra! Morning ceremony is in the gurdwara, so it will be very low key, no crazy hair and I will be wearing a salwar kameez. With this hairdo, I will be wearing a bright red lengha with swarovski crystals all over it.

Thanks, I think I like #4 also.

Don't be bummed about the cards, hey, we ordered too many and have about 50 cards still sitting at home, so we bought too many as well. Shipping is there, it's ok, nothing you can do, as long as you love your cards, that's all that's important.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

We wrote the mendhi and sangeet information on the main invitation at the bottom since it is taking place at my house. Then we had a seperate card for the reception information. I don't think you need to write anything crazy, just something small and to the point.

I know, my date is right around the corner. My aunts from india are coming this week and I'm soo excited to see them. Haven't seen them in like over 10 years!!!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

i am not sure what to do about the mendhi.. i think parekhcards does mendhi add ons as well.. or you could even go to a desi printer in edison and get it done.. something small like the rsvp card..

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

GtBride, Don't worry about it. I felt the same way you did when we were doing guest lists and all the stupid traditions and all that other nonsense that we have to follow when we don't want to. I know, I know how you are feeling. But you know what, all those feelings subside when you get closer to the big day. I am getting excited about wearing the dress, the jewelry, my shoes, having my bridesmaids all dressed up, seeing my family from all over that I haven't seen in years. The list goes on and on.

All I am trying to say is don't sweat the details, things will go wrong, people who rsvp'd won't show up, it's the norm and it will happen. If you prepare yourself for it now, you will feel much better about it later on.

Hey i'm extremely nervous, I'm hindu getting married to a Sikh and having the ceremony at the gurdwara. I will have no clue as to what to do or where to go, so I will be freaking out as well, but in a good way.

We wanted to skip over the whole wedding and go straight to the honeymoon and get married there, but remember, this is more for the families than us. More than likely they want all this big stuff more than we do, so we have to suck it up and put up with it. I will all be beautiful in the end.

Look at all the pictures of the brides on here, they look soo happy and beautiful, so don't worry, and your special day will be great!!!

well said Nancy.. I am planning to save that.. b/c at times I feel so overwhelmed about things.. but not the material stuff.. seriously I could careless.. it's the emotions I guess.. the only time I was away from my parents was when I was in college.. my parents and I have a wonderful relationship and I love being with them.. and I also love FH so much but it's all so new.. and the emotions of fear, happiness and everything..

Take it one day at a time.. my eyes are welling up just thinking about how hard it will be for my dad to hand me over.. I should have been a boy!!!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Thanks for the support girls. I really appreciate. I love my FH been together for 5yrs and it was a long distance relationship! We know our love is true and desperately want to be together. I guess i am really emotional right now b/c i am also starting to pack b/c after the wedding i am moving to Cali I am afraid. I have no friends and no family there. I am soo used to my personal space. This is the overwhelming part. I keep telling myself change is good but this is a drastic change for me. I guess i am feeling like this cause there is just soo much going on. I want a small wedding meaning about 200 people or less. Yesterday we had a family gathering and everyone is soo excited and was like i spoke to so and so and they didnt get their invitations yet. i simple smiled and was like they arent invited and then it starts with the old aunty going OH NOO you have to invited them b/c blahh blahh. I wanted to say no beech i dont have to do shiit! I guess i am feeling like this maybe cause the guest seems to be growing I really want a small wedding with immediate family and friends but my mother seems to find cousins in every dam state!

Thanks for listening girls! I need to vent this shiit!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread

Don't worry, we are here to listen, VENT AWAY!!!! We all need to vent from time to time, and hey if you can't vent to your fellow bridezillas, who can you vent to right?????

I can only imagine what you are going thru, moving that far away, I can see how it is bothering you. But like you said, your love your FH unconditionally, so that's what matters, it's only a few months that you have to adjust with his family, then you guys will be on your own. Cali is great, I loved it when I went there. You will be fine and if you need more venting space, we are always here, ( I'm not really working so I'll probably be on this board all day, lol).
