Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I also booked with Pedestals, spoke with Robert. He really gave me a great price, worked with budget and got me the look I wanted. They are very professional and have a great variety of ideas and samples to work with.I had that same list long ago, but it gets easier. Just take your time doing your research and call them and do like a pre-screening before you go in to get an idea if they are what you are looking for and within budget.
Dj, I booked Dj Sharad. They are a little pricey, but that's what really creates the party, the MC and the music. So if you have a good Dj, people will remember your wedding. Also, I have been to some of his parties and love his MC's, they really get the crowd involved.
Any other help you need with ideas and planning, we are all here. I'm pretty much done since it's in 2 weeks. I'm just waiting for the ribbon for the favors to start putting them together and wrapping the card box and that's it!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
If you are using a mandap, then your decorator will be able provide you with your flowers. For the ceremony, I am going for a very old school Indian theme.. I wasn't sure if other florists would be able to do that?!?
DJ does make the party.. we booked Kucha and he's very pricey as well.. but like Nancy said that's what makes the party.. so make sure whoever you decide with is really what you are looking for..
I am thinking of ordering my favors.. even if we have a few extra lying around, I want to finish it off! Can anyone help in find decorative packaging boxes? I can't seem to find any

Check out this website for decorative boxes. We were going to use them but decided on wrapping in clear plastic and tying with a ribbon. But I heard good things.http://www.wrapsmart.com/index.asp?page=products.asp&category=Favor%20Boxes&start=1

When you say pricey...what were your quotes for DJs?Try AC Moore or Michaels.....I think I remember seeing decorative boxes there....they had different sizes too. Or, a lot of the favor sites have boxes for sale too.

I really like DJ Amrit - and I've been in touch w/ DJ Essence but no one's heard of him - and I haven't been to his parties. Does anyone have an estimate for DJ w/ MC w/ lighting for a reception.

A great dj is pricey but i feel like it worth it. They are what makes the party and what your guest will remember the event.

For a good DJ, I an using DJ Sharad. I have been to some of his parties and he is really good and his MC's really get the people involved. FM me if you want pricing. Also, for limos, Camelot has rave reviews. I am using them and they really work within your budget and are very pleasant to deal with. Their Rolls Royce is beautiful. Speak to Joe and he will give you excellent quotes if you say the girls on LIW sent you there!!

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I did post on the Vendors site and I got a lot of feedback which is great.. now ALL I need to do to finalize the limo part would be to figure a hotel where the family will be staying... they're asking for like 200 a night.. and of course my parents want to pay for like all of our family that will be staying
for two nights..
By next weekend.. everything MUST be finalized..
When saw some quotes yesterday, I was seriously considering a yellow cab or big cheese bus!! you know.. make a statement.. something different
