My FH and I are looking for a unique, modern wedding album.. we went to a bridal show and saw Park Ave. Studio with a cool album..but we are having a hard time with them (they keep having to cancel our appointment, Snow, ect.). All the other Photographers we have seen don't know anything about this type of album. All they have are albums that remind me of my parents album from 1970..
Anyone getting a unique wedding album or know a photographer who offers something a little different from the norm.????

Re: unique wedding album...
Could you be a bit more descriptive, of the album you saw, do you have any pix of it. I think the album our photographer and us designed is rather modern. What and who have you seen?? If the photographer is creative they can definitely come up with an album that represents you. What does your parent's album look like?? I did not think that there were still photographers around who were stuck in time. Most photographers that we visited had around the same type/style of albums. I hope you find what you are looking for.

Re: unique wedding album...
I think you are talking about the new 'digital' albums. I visited with park avenue the other day, and that album is absolutely beautiful!! In my travels (and anxiety attacks along the way) to 6 different photographers, the only other one that had a similar 'digital' album was VIP with John Pagano. I'm in the process of trying to decide who to go with!! They are definitely amazing albums, but they do cost significantly more. Let me know if you have any questions!

Re: unique wedding album...
I recently visited Gray Studios on Jericho Tpke. in Floral Park. They had a coffee table type album which was really different. They have a great reputation, but we have a bunch more photographer appts. before we decide. Good luck.

Re: unique wedding album...
Thanks shamma96 That is very close to the ONE book I saw at Park Ave., I don't think the pictures are taken digitaly, the book gets produced digitaly (that is how you get all the cool layers and stuff)
I will give VIP a call
Does anyone else know photographers who offer this style of book???? My FH and I just love this type of book!!!

One of the main reasons I booked my photgrapher is because of the Albulm he offered...we loved him, the book and his work sooooo much we are flying him up from Florida!

Re: unique wedding album...
AmyKay - my photographer is now offering that kind of wedding album. I recently saw a few that they just did and they were breathtaking! They did were not offering that type of album as an option when I got married, but I would have chosen that style if they did. But, my hubby doesn't care for it too much.
Anyway, the studio is Gray Studios in Floral Park. Their web site is Gray Studios
Give them a call...if you consider them, insist upon Michael or Stephen for your photographer...you won't be disappointed! Good luck to you!

Re: unique wedding album...
I saw this type of album at Wedding Group One. They have offices in Flushing, Queens and NYC. There is a lot of feedback on them (sometimes called WGO) on weddingchannel.com's NYC local pages.

Re: unique wedding album...
If I remember correctly, Visual Concepts was able to do some interesting layouts digitally for albums and framed images. They were very nice and we seriously considered them. Maybe you could look into them.

Re: unique wedding album...
Kornfelds in Rockville Ctr will do anything...they are amazing. You should definitely check them out. As for VIP, my friend used them, and, I could go on and on but I won't....I DO NOT have good things to say about them. If you are interested I could forum you how terrible they are.

Re: unique wedding album...
Has anyone here used a photographer who uses only a digital camera ? If so, could you get actual pictures and negatives as well as a 'disk' full of shots?

Re: unique wedding album...
I asked about the coffe table/digital album on the vendor side and this is the answer that I got from Mark Kauffman:
The 'digital album' means that instead of sending pictures to the album company and mounting those pictures on a page with mattes around the pictures, photos are digitally printed on the page of the album and the album company simply adds the covers. In other words, if the album is 11x14, then 11x14 pages with the pictures 'exposed' and designed and manipulated are all that the album is composed of. DO NOT BE FOOLED!! These albums actually cost LESS to produce then the actual pictures that are mounted by the album company. Also, be careful that the digital pictures are on real photographic paper and NOT ink on non-photographic paper. The difference is that a real photograph is made from the paper itself actually becoming the picture. Inkjet means that ink is sprayed onto the paper just like the printers that everyone has (the more expensive printers simply do a better job of spraying the ink.) No one knows how long those pictures will last in comparison to real photographs.
If you don't want the kind of album that your parents had, there are many neat alternatives besides going the digital route.

Re: unique wedding album...
I think the most important thing is to have INTERESTING photos to choice from. Look for a photographer that will take the types of photos you want, more than the type of album you can order. Withoug great photos, you cannot create an album like the ones pictured above.

Re: unique wedding album...
My photographer (Marco Photography) has a similar option for the albums. This is what drew us to him. The albums remind me of scrapbooks, the way the pictures overlap and all of the other digital effects. Unfortunately, all of these effects cost extra money.
