I need advice, I am not sure what to do...

I am bumping my post, because I just want see if anyone else has a recommendation for a place to get my dress altered.

Okay, here goes...

I ordered my dress from Bridal Suite of Patchogue this past March. Unfortunately, I didn't know about this website when I ordered my dress (How I wish I did!)

After doing a search and reading the horror stories about this place, I contacted the manufacturer to find out if they ordered my dress. After a couple of emails they informed me that they would contact Bridal Suite of Patchigue to have them inform me that the dress was ordered and the arrival day is October 2003. And BS of Patchogue did contact me and gave me the date.

My wedding is not until October 2004, so I have time.

My questions(s):
Do you think I should just take the dress when it comes in and find another place to get it altered? Also, I would want to store the dress until we begin alterations because FI and I live together.

I know Frankslady had a wonderful experience with them and that is good and makes me feel a little better. But I really don't want to take any risks with my dress. I am willing to pay more $$$ to have it stored and have it altered by someone or a place that I feel confident in.

So, should I start looking for a seamstress?

What do you all think? I welcome suggestions and opinions.

Oh, if you know of a seamstress or place and would like to recommend them, please do!

Sorry so long, but this is really bothering me and I am undecided.

I didnt use them.. but if I were you and it really bothered me this much, Yes, I'd look for a new seamstress. Just in case. It never hurts.

I think its utlimately up to you. I'm also a Oct 2004 bride. I think my place told the Manufactors that im getting married July 3rd to make sure the dress is in on time.

Either way, good luck!

Don't stress about this - I got my dress from David's in Carle Place and I loved it. Yes, the service was lacking, but who cares? (I know a lot of people do, but not me). I did get it altered at 'la belle brue' or something like that on franklin ave in garden city, it was not expensive and everything worked out fine.

Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook does alterations and I know there is a place on SUnrise in Merrick that does them also. I will get the name and number for you...

I am picking my dress up from MACY'S today and getting it altered elsewhere when the wedding gets closer--FM me if you'd like--I have a great lady who works @ a bridal salon but does it out of her house on the side as well!

Tara...I feel the same way! So many girls have had problems with alterations at David's that I just don't want to take the chance......I was also told when I tried on the dress, that not too much needs to be done..thankfully!!
