I just wanted to see if there was anything that anyone splurged on or upgraded to that they could have done without in the end. On the flip side, is there anything that you would have liked to have? (ie. fancy lead car, elaborate centerpieces, chocolate fountain, etc.)

LOVED and Don't Regret:
Cigar Rollers (HUGE hit) Did NOT get chair covers (would have cost us @ 1k and the room/chairs looked great)
Chocolate fountain was thrown in at the very end do to some complications with management at the hall. With that said, it was nice to have the fountain (it was a hit as well) but I think I might have regretted it if I had paid for it. Same goes for ice sculptures that were thrown in.

one thing i wish we splurged on at my wedding was a photo booth! i totally regret not getting that!

I don't regret a single thing!!
I loved... my uplighting, the cigar roller (everyone loved this!), matching linens, OUR CAKE!, the martini bar, the cordial bar, I could go on forever...
ETA: I had them make an ice luge for the martini bar, which quickly turned into a shot luge and I had people doing shots off it all through CH and they LOVED IT!

I am so happy that I added the chocolate fountain and the mashed potato bar. They were both hits. I'm glad I did high centerpieces, bought linens and made my own menus, programs, place cards etc. I think it made the wedding more unique. This is something small but I wish I hadn't spent $50 on a guestbook. No one wrote anything person, they just signed their names! GRRR

not sure if i loved it or not...
but we got a drum player to play along w DJ
i love the idea of live music and he was really good! but im not really sure how much it would have TAKEN AWAYYY from the party if he wastn there
also...i never got a picture of me playing the drums didnt even think to do it (too busy) till the next day
but i did LOVE: ..surprise singer/songwriter appearance to sing our first dance song !!!!! ..photobooth ..i loved our favors since it tied everything together - and we didnt see a lot left over, so ppl actually took them home! ..loved our DIY: place cards, napkins, VH box stickers...even though they took time, i look at the pics and remember workin on them w DH ..loved our cake - the sugar flowers we added were supposed to be extra $ but we did it anyway ..made photo guestbook last minute on shutterfly - and i love it!!!
would def skip: ..garter. bought one. had it in pics. then never put it on. lol ..had a pashmina basket. it wasnt really worth it. it wasnt cold and ppl just packed it away to take home. nothing really special. i shouldve saved the $

Great thread!!! Few questions: For girls with cigar rollers, which vender did you use? Also, i know they come in packages....like 100 cigars for $X...how many cigars did you 'buy' per guest. I know for SURE that not all my guests will want to smoke them...but they may want them as a favor. Did you get personalized tabs to go around them? THANKS!
Also, where did you buy cheap boxes for the VH? Did the CH have any problems with people taking home food? Where did you place the to go boxes and make it known that people were allowed to take things home?
If i think of more questions i'll shoot them out!
