I'm just curious how many people got lingerie at their shower... To be honest, I really, REALLY don't want to receive any at my shower. That's just something really personal to me and I'd only ever wear lingerie FH or I picked out. Call me old fashioned, but I'm not going to wear something for FH that someone else picked out and I just showed to my family and friends. (I know this is just my personal feelings... but it's how I feel) I am also really skeeved out by the idea of someone else buying me underwear or lingerie. Am I just crazy?

I did... from my MOM and SIL!! LOL. its not really a big deal, its all women there and they expect to see that kind of stuff... they also didn't get me any racy, sexy stuff, just some silky nighties.

not everyone gets lingerie. your family/friends should know and respect your wishes.

i got lingerie from my mom, girlfrend and dh's mom bought me some night gowns- not really sexy.
i didnt mind at all, but there are plenty of brides who do mind..

I wasn't planning on saying anything - just preparing myself. I have one friend I might have to talk to before the shower. She can sometimes be a little inappropriate. She told my FH near Christmas when sh e gave me a Christmas gift, 'Sorry I didn't get you anything. I was going to get you fuzzy handcuffs, but I wasn't sure how you two would react to that.' (implying she was going to buy this for my fiance!) Scary thing is that she was serious. She's the only one who would potentially buy something in appropriate.

I'm sure my mom and MIL or SIL will wind up getting me something-- I don't think they'd get anything racy (a silk night gown would be fine)... but anything more than that, we pick out ourselves!

(And I realize this is a very weird thing to be worried about...)

It's tradition in our family that the MOH buys the bride a piece of lingere for each night of the honeymoon (up to 5 nights because it gets expensive). My sisters and I all did it for each other and now I am excited because its my turn!

Like I said, I understand that this is MY odd thing... and I'll be fine as long as it isn't anything too racy...

I just need to prepare myself. I blush easily.

I have about 5 weeks to prepare myself.

well ive seen someone not get any at all, and then one bridal shower i remember she actually received alot of lingerie.

This is funny, but I remember my cousin getting lingerie for her shower from her MIL. I guess her MIL thought she was buying something sort of classy and pretty -- it was just a black silk night gown... but what she failed to notice was that there were sheer hearts cut out at the nipples. Oops. We're all pretty sure she didn't mean to get THAT!

I think that at most showers I've been to, the brides have received at least some lingerie. I even went to a 'Lingerie Shower' a couple of years ago! It was a lot of fun.

For me, I totally wouldn't mind normally. However, I'm REALLLLY hoping I DO NOT receive any lingerie. To be honest, I have enough and I would much rather receive things from the registry - my FH and I will be leaving our families' homes and moving in together after the wedding, so we would appreciate home gifts much more than 'sexy' or clothing type gifts. Of course, we'll be happy with whatever we get, but I might have to practice my 'oooh, I love it' face too!!!

Well if they know any of this would make you uncomfortable then they probably wont do it, or they might do it just because of that...I guess figure out what your friends would do in this situation.

Well, she should have known what she said to my FI would make both of us uncomfortable, too... I'm going to feel her out and mention something in passing (or phrase it as a joke) so she understands she can't put sex toys in the wishing well or something like that.

My mil bought fh and I sven sets of pj's. Some sexy, some comfy. My friend bought some trashy stuff.

i got some--and i didn't want any AT ALL. lingerie is just something i don't like someone picking out for me...i know its supposed to be 'cute and fun' but i'm a big girl, and i know what works and doesn't on my body---and most of the stuff i got, was terrible for me. i would have preferred getting the stuff myself

I got 2 beautful Satin nightgowns with matching robes, and ......1 outfit.....lets just say....was a fun one

I don't mind getting lingerie because I think it's funny. I would, however, prefer to get stuff off of our registry since we are both moving from our homes into one together and have nothing.

I have a friend that got a couple of pieces for her shower and was livid--she went and returned it all.
