Timber Point Golf & Country Club

Timber Point Golf & Country Club

I am having my reception at Timber Point in Great River. I love the location (and the view of the bay), but I'm a little concerned about the food quality. I went to a tasting 2 weeks ago and some of the appetizers tasted rather bland. Is anyone else having a reception there (my wedding is June 12, 2004), or has anyone else had a reception there? Any problems with service? It seems great, but I guess I'm looking for reassurance. Thanks.

I'm a lessings bride also...WSCC...and I have heard nothing but great things about their food..I also went to the showcase at my place a few weeks ago..and we were very impressed with all the food...
don't stress over it..especially if it was just the appetizers...

Hi, yeah another Timber Point bride to be.

Welcome!

I was at that expo too. Personally, I thought the food was good, but that is my opinion. Everyone has different tastes.

Another TP bride is btryflygrl. We have actually become good friends. She was at the expo too.

Another past bride who had her ceremony/reception at TP is stavia. Check out her review on TP on the Bridal Review.

If you have any other questions FM me anytime.

I know - over reaction - I guess I got a momentary jitter. Thanks.

You have FM!

You have every right to except the best on your wedding day. I would maybe bring your concern to Ben.

That would be me - thanks for the advice. I've gotten a lot more responses here in the past hour than I ever did on the knot.

Re: Timber Point Golf & Country Club

I think when I go for our tasting (we have some time) I'll see how that goes before I start making a fuss. I love the place no matter what, so I'm committed. And they seemed pretty easy to work with, so I'm not too worried, I just wanted some reassurance. I feel like I'm making so many decisions that affect just one day - every once in awhile I get a burst of paralyzing indecision (or second-guessing, actually, would be more accurate)

OH YAY!! Another TP bride!!! Let me reassure you...the food is AMAZING....I've heard nothing but great things about Lessing's in general, as well as Timber Point. I just met a couple that married there last December and they raved about it!! They said the food was great, the service was great, and people still talk about it!! Both peabody and I have been conversing back and forth about TP, and I invite you (and anyone else) that wants to chat about it, to e-mail me, FM me, call me...whatever! Our families love it there and we are all very excited!

This is exciting - I didn't know there were so many other people who booked Timber Point. Are you having your ceremony there or somewhere else? (I'm having mine at my church in Amityville).

I am having the ceremony and reception at TP. I am praying for a warm sunny day so we can have the ceremony outside on the patio.

Can you tell me more about the florist you are using? I have never heard of them. I don't think I am using TP's house vendor.

We are also doing our ceremony at the hall....I doubt I could pray hard enough for a freakishly warm day in the beginning of March for outdoors, but we are planning on an indoor in front of the fireplace. We have a lot of out of towners, so it's a lot easier for us.

Re: Timber Point Golf & Country Club

I'm using Steven Alexander's (in Copiague) for the bouquets and corsages and church decorations. (I'm using M&F for the centerpieces - hey, it's part of the package and it's one less decision I have to make. I chose them because, A) I wasn't all that impressed with M&F's selection (or service for that matter). It's not that they were rude or anything, but I felt their showroom was a little shabby and the woman there put my sister, my mom and myself in a little room with a bunch of books and said 'Here' - I felt there was no interest in me (I could be a little sensitive, but that was my impression). Louise at Steven Alexander's (they're new) sat down with me 2x for an hour each before I even booked with her (or had a color scheme for that matter). She was very creative with color and suggested a lot but totally listened when I said that some ideas were too out there for me. She was pretty reasonable, too.

I'm sure it will be fantastic, no matter what. I love the fireplace there - I know my wedding's in June but I'd love to use it for my reception. How is planning? You've got about 5 months to go - any warnings?

btrflygrl, is so lucky! Her wedding is the 2nd wedding at TP after the renovations!!!!

I can't wait to see her pics!!!

Are you having a Sat day or night wedding? I have a suggestion for a Saturday day wedding that was past onto me from a friend who had a Sat day wedding at TP this past summer.

Mine is at night - I'm not much of a morning person - but what's your idea? Any suggestions are welcome - I'm not visually creative.

Re: Timber Point Golf & Country Club

Warnings?? Hmmm....LOL....Just don't freak out...take everything in stride....we gave ourselves about 8 months to plan...we are doing great. We got most of the major stuff down...the only snafu I'm hitting is the centerpieces....FH and I were unimpressed w/ the package choices M & F gave and they were unwilling to budge. They limit the style (which I can understand), but to limit the flower and color of the flower as well??? IT just didn't feel right, ya know what I mean? So we are probably going with candles....we can give them away and people can use them.

Don't be afraid to ask for what you want from TP. We are guaranteeing a lot of people so they are throwing in something for us, a choice between valet parking or the international coffee bar.

I am looking forward to the impending friendships that started with simple wedding planning (Hi Peabody!!!)

Hey peabody...what's this 'idea' for the day wedding? You know mines' during the day! Share the love!!!

Re: Timber Point Golf & Country Club

Hi btrflygrl, I already shared my suggestion with you about the prospective client visits.

What did you think of those pictures I sent you?

Phil and I bought galverized buckets from Pottery Barn the other night for our centerpieces. I didn't see them on the Pottery Barn website, so I'll have to take pic and scan it.
