Looking for ...

Has anyone checked out the Swan club's DJ expos I need to find a DJ
among many other vendors but didn't know if it is worth the trip.
Also we are getting married at this location anyone have a suggestion on an
officiant in this area. I have been given a couple of websites but would like to
meet and speak to the officiant live and preferably an offiiciant who belongs
to a local church in the area willing to marry outside the church.

I just called this place to inquire. Might be going down there this weekend to check them out. Anyone know what types of rates to expect?

Re: Calling all Swan Club Brides...

Went there yesterday. Place isn't too bad. Its staying on the list of 'possibilities'.

My only concern is they only have one area for the 'ceremony' and it holds 125 people. My party is too small (50 people) to be able to reserve that room. Its kinda like... well if none of our other larger parties take it... its yours. They would let me know by 6 months before the date.

When I go back... I am going to ask them if we can simply just do a quick ceremony out in their gardens. We aren't doing a 'church' wedding... so i'm sure we can get away with a simple... 'Do you... yeah... do you... yeah... ok U married' type thing and we can then head in and party. :)

Hey why don't you ask them if you can use the deck they have outside, if the weather is nice we will use that space for our cocktail hour, and our group is slightly bigger, at 65, so it should hold all of you... They are pretty helpful, so talk to them.. Hope it works out for you !! :)

If I am not mistaken I can't remember but the chapel they have outside could be a reasonable
size for a party. You may want to inquire about using that area too.
good luck. I know it's hard to book for anything under 100 people. I had to guarantee that many to get the room I wanted.

Re: Calling all Swan Club Brides...

I know, orginally I wanted the Contessa room, but the room min was 95, and while I could fill it.. I didn't really want to pay for people I don't know to come to my wedding..

Re: Calling all Swan Club Brides...

Tell me about it. And usually you have to invite at least 15-20% over your minimum to try to make the minimum
pookiesangel - which room did you decide to book in? I am in the garden room.

Re: Calling all Swan Club Brides...

I'm in the smallest rooom, the after deck

ETA: No longer in the after deck... now I'm in the Contessa Room YAY!

I saw that room and liked it but couldn't fit my guests. One good thing about the swan club they are pretty flexible and work with their clients.

Re: Calling all Swan Club Brides...

Hey ladies!!! I'm getting married in the Swan Club too!!!! My wedding is July 16, 2005. I'm in the Camelot room! I already booked the photographer/videographer that they recommended. It's Glenmar Studios. I've heard nothing but great things about them. Anyone get a florist yet?

Re: Calling all Swan Club Brides...

Yes we had a tasting already, since FH had never eaten there..he wanted to taste the food before we booked.

As far as waiting, I'd say they have pretty standard fair in terms of what they serve. The food is pretty tasty and they only let you pick from the entrees.. not the cocktail hour. So unless you are having trouble choosing 3, you don't really have to have a tasting.

On the day we went with FMIL, She choose chicken francise, I choose the salmon, and FH chose the steak..(he's such a guy..lol) all were very good. FH steak was over done, he asked for it that way, and it was still tender. I like the salmon, it comes with a nice hollendase (sp?) sauce that was very tasty. and FMIL loved the chicken..

Ann Marie.. YAY!! and congrats!!
I too choose the Glenmar Studios, we went over to see them the same day we booked Swan Club since it's only 5 mins away. They were great.
As for a florist, I decided not to go with one they recommended. Our BM was really honest and said the Glen Head Florist was pretty pricey and her sister had recently used Pedalsals (sp?) (they are a vendor on here) I didn't like how pushy they were on the phone, so that turned me off to them, but I hear there work is really good...

At this point I have had several conversations with Laurie from LaBlossom (also a vendor here) and LOVED HER!! We are meeting on May 13th, and I'm pretty sure I am going to use her. You can FM her on here and she will give you a quote.

Hope it helps..

ETA: My cousin had her wedding in the Camlot Room too, its a great room!!!

Re: Calling all Swan Club Brides...

Hey Pookiesangel! When do I do a food tasting at the Swan Club? I'm really anxious to do that! And also a cake tasting. Do they offer that as well? I'm thinking of going to see Pedestals, Flowers by Brian, Cress Florist, Steven Alexander, and a few other florists. Where is LaBlossom located? You've been most helpful! Thank you!

Re: Calling all Swan Club Brides...

Okay to answer your questions...

1) Re: the food tasting.. I went the week before I booked them. But if you've already booked, then anytime really. It's up to you.
and about the cake tasting, no they don't offer it BUT my cousin's cake was really really good!
She had her wedding there in July of 2001.

2) LaBlossom is a vendor on here, she is renovating her studio right now, so she is willing to come to you or meet you somewhere local. If you look for her under vendors on this site, you can email her.

Flowers by Brian I am told is excellent, but he was a bit pricey from what I understand. Crest Florist & Steven Alexander have very good reputations, I would check them out.

My best advice on flowers call around, go see and get quotes and then sit down with all the info and see which one a) suits your budget b) does the kind of work you want at your wedding..

As for Pedatsals, they also have a good rep, but based on my own expierence with them I passed on them. But you should check them out they are reasonable and have a nice showroom to go see things and get ideas.

Re: Calling all Swan Club Brides...

Hi Anne marie

Congratulations! I am also getting married in July 2005. I have only booked the hall and have plenty to do as far as florists and DJ, photographer. Like you, I did not go for a tasting before booking as I have attended a wedding there and the food is good. I will probably do a tasting closer to the wedding and when I am ready to pick the entrees.
Have you booked a DJ. I will try and checkout their DJ expo when they have another one. Are you having your ceremony there?
