I do not know if anyone has had a good experience there but I am having a nightmare.
My Mom ordered her MOB dress there back in OCTOBER. It was a gorgeous Jovani. The tag said 'purple, navy, and light cafe'. She tried it on in purple and ordered the light cafe.
Well about January we get a call that the dress is in, so we go see it. It is BIG BIRD YELLOW not light cafe. My Mom was so upset, the lady at Macys says there is a mistake NO KIDDING LADY and that they will Re-order it.
Well, the past 3 months we have spent at least 15 calls back and forth to Macys to make sure it is coming in. We were told many times -they are working on the dress -The beading is being done -we will have the dress
Ok then Macys says it will be in last Friday. We call, no dress.
I just got a call that we are NOT getting the dress period. What IS THIS ABOUT??????
So Jovani (which I doubt) or Macys has been lying all this time to us!!!!
I am SO MAD.
The thing that ***** is that we went so early to get my moms dress. Plus she has had open heart surgery and has scars all over her body and one that runs high up on her chest so she doesnt like to wear things that are low on her chest to start with. This dress was sooooo pretty on her and she felt so confident in it. I hate to see this happening to my Mom.
I know its only a dress, but it was very hard for my Mom to find something. We went to about 20 places for her.
Now Macys says Jovani is shipping dress to the store for my Mom to look at from their new line. Ugh, but I know she had her heart set on this one. Plus we did nothing wrong at all. We ordered early and followed up like mad.

Can you contact the designer directly and see if they can help you?

Ugh, that's terrible! So sorry you and your mom are going through this. Looks like you still have some time to find something though, so that is good? Is Macy's trying to be helpful? Have you tried to get in touch with the manufacturer directly? I really hope they find a way to make it right for you and to make your mom happy.

Yes I called Jovani myself and was told by 'customer service' that they 'are not allowed to speak directly to the customer'.
Nice right?

Be sure to let them now how you are telling every bride you know about their wonderful customer service! Maybe that will encourage them to actually be helpful!

You still have time to be able to order that same dress from another vendor... there are a few stores on LI that carry Jovani.
But perhaps try calling the mfr again and telling them you will report them and Macs to teh BBB... keep pushign both the store and the mfr!

Re: Macys Bridal-Manhasset VENT
i would write a letter directly to jovani
and then wait a week and send it to one of the news stations that helps people fix problems like that
another option - alta mode- is supposed to make dresses off other designs - maybe they can make something similar

Did they offer you a refund on your deposit? They certainly should do that--forget store credit, then you'll only have to spend it with them.
Did you try looking at formalware in other department stores? Maybe your mother can find something nice that she can buy off the rack.

I would definitely send a letter of complaint to both Macy's and the designer. That's the only way you're going to find out who was lieing to you all that time. Also, they will probably make every effort to appease you which may turn out financially beneficial to you. They may offer to make an exception even if the dress has been discontinued. As well as give it to you at a discounted price. The last thing Macy's or a designer wants is bad publicity.

That is a nightmare!!! I understand completely how you want your mom to have the dress she had her heart set on.... I would definately try to contact Jovani again. Sure, they don't normally talk to customers, but... give me a break! I say keep trying. Just explain your situation, -- the people on the other end of the line are PEOPLE--they should understand.

If we only knew right....I dont know if it us Macys mistake or Jovani but I will find out.
My FMIL has a Jovani order in as well (not at Macys though). I hope her dress comes in ok.
This isnt $100 dress either and Jovani is a well known company, you would expect a lot more from them.

That is horrible for your mom. I'm sorry to hear that she and you have to go threw this. I ordered my gown from Macy's but not the Manhasset location. I would definitely find out whose at fault for this. Us brides have enough stress we do not need added BS.

Re: Macys Bridal-Manhasset VENT
if your mother did not lose her deposit or has paid for the dress already -and since your wedding is not until september and you still have some time, take her to Totally You.
Its located on Merrick Road in Bellmore - my mom ordered her Jovani dress there at the beginning of January and the dress came in two weeks ago.
actually - the dress that my mother bought she tried on in the cafe color and it was a beutiful champagny color - not yellow - and their prices for the jovani collection were a lot cheaper than what they are in the department stores since they sell so many of them.
the women that worked there were so nice and helpful and they carried the whole jovani line ----- im sure they would be able to find your mom the dress that she wants - and not in big bird yellow!!!!!!!!
if you want the number - FM me

Thanks. My FMIL got her dress from there so I know the place. They did not have the style my Mom wanted. I will see if Macys comes through w/ these new dresses. If not, then we will look there again.

Why are they unable to ship the original dress? Is it discontinued?

THats what I would like to know. But we were NEVER given a reason just told 'they cannot make the dress in light cafe'. This is a nightmare.
