Christine...FYI Since we both have the same location and travel agent....the HM registry is available through In & Out AND through Secrets Excellence directly on their website. It's the same exact HM registry website if you look at it. What the difference is between going through the TA or directly through Secrets, I'm not sure. Maybe whoever you register with gets the 7%?

Not yet, we were going to, but may as well check the stats of your poll to see if we'll do it!!

Re: Those with/had Honeymoon Registries (w/POLL)

I did one through my travel agent. She truly organized it all with my MOH. My MOH put a notification in with my shower invitation indicating where I was registered (the usual department stores) and said she would be collecting gifts, if anyone wanted to contribute to our honeymoon. Then, one of my BMs made individual gift certificates (beautifully decorated) that I opened at my shower. Everyone was thrilled to be able to contribute since DH & I already lived together and didn't need much, and we were going to such an exotic and costly destination. I think we ended up with a couple of thousand toward the HM, which was only a drop in the bucket compared to the entire cost, but very helpful.
ETS: Since it was my personal travel agent handling the contribution, there was no cost to the gift givers - what they gave, I got.

One of my cousins did the honeymoom registry it was semi-successful. Her friends contributed to it but most of my family didn't - I think it's mostly because they are all from Italy and the concept to them was completely foreign. I hope that this helps you a bit.

We are using honeymoonwishes.com. Even though we are still ways to go before our wedding, we already had one purchase and friends and family have been really enthusiastic about looking at our registry and 'window shopping' gifts. My DH and I have been living together for 4 years now and just didn't need another pot, pan or china set. I am sure there are a few of our old school guests that may be put off by it, but if they are then hey certainly don't have to get us anything from it.

I am curious about you ladies that are using a travel agency. I like the webiste b/c people feel like they are buying concrete things (like a massage for 2) versus just giving $$ to the honeymoon. Are there any agencies that will letyou put up a webiste or is it all handled through your agent???

TIA

We haven't decided yet, but my friends sister did it and her experience was the same as one of the previous posters. Lots of friends opted to contribute - family and older guests tended to either give money or gifts from registry.

We're leaning towards doing it!

I did the Starwood Honeymoon registry. I got about $500 towards it. Not a huge amount, but it definitely helped!

We did our HM registry through Liberty Travel, and it was free for both us and our friends/family. Our HM registry was very successful. We got a couple of thousand $$ towards our HM. I am definitely in favor of it.

Re: Those with/had Honeymoon Registries (w/POLL)

Christine....Andrew and I decided since we don't really need much stuff (we both had our own apartments before) that we're only having maybe 40 items on the formal registries, and then we're putting another 20 or so things on the HM registry. That way, we have better chance of things being bought off it!!

Like Andrew told me, if you don't give them much of a choice, then they will have to get things off it!

I just wanted to contribute my own experience now!

My HM Registry has been really successful. At first I didn't think ANYONE was going to give anything, but when push came to shove, and people procrastinated with buying other items from our other registry (BBB) our guests contributed towards the HM in lieu of cash!

Just a breakdown of what we registered for, and what we got:

Registered Contribution: $2,500
Received: $1,600

I honestly recm'd it to couples who don't really need that much as far as appliances, housewares from BBB, Macy's, Fortunoffs, etc, and to those who are having difficulty paying for their HM (like we did.)

I would love to do a HM registry but I am not sure how it works. How is it applied to your HM? We already put 50% down through our TA.
