Okay so my 'surprise' shower is next weekend and there's still quite a bit left on the registries. I know that 74 people were invited so it doesn't make sense.
did you girls find that people waited until the very last minute to buy stuff?
Did a lot of people get you stuff not on your registry (which is so aggravating by the way and defeats the purpose of registering)?
Just curious!

Re: registry questions for you
that's what I'm hoping - mine is on Saturday and it seems like there are still a lot of untouched items

Re: registry questions for you
I didn't have my shower yet, however, when I go to a shower, I ALWAYS wait till the last minute. I always go the day before or the day of. I don't know why I do, I just don't like shopping I guess.

Re: registry questions for you
a lot of my guests waited until the last possible second to buy the gifts, most of the items didn't start coming off the registry until the week of my shower. i got a few gift certificates to BB&B, a coulple of checks, and only one non registry gift.

I didn't have my shower yet, I always buy off the registry because I want the bride and groom to be happy not upset. It is a pain in the neck when people buy off your registry.

Yes, some guests wait until the last minute to buy gifs. Also, some guests will buy gifts but won't tell the cashier it's from a registry so it never comes off. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get plenty of good stuff!!

Re: registry questions for you
For my shower, the week of just about everything came off of my registry. I had some guests give checks, which was much appreciated, some BBB gift cards and only a few guests used the honeymoon registry, we got one ugly vase that I'm sure was re-gifted. For the most part though guests bought off of the registry, or at least bought items at BBB and they ended up on my registry.
I wouldn't worry yet, if the night before you still don't have anything off of your registry then I'd be worried when it was time to open gifts!

Re: registry questions for you
i was monitoring my sister's registry before her shower. a lot of stuff came off the day or two before the shower. the unfortunate part was that her registry was at fortunoff's and their system was broken so it turned out it wasn't updating correctly. she wound up with 3 SETS of her everyday wine glasses!!!

My shower is next week and NOTHING is taken off really, I'm getting worried, since I always buy gifts right away, but I guess most people dont and wait until the last minute???

Yeah i'm the same way. I always buy right away and i understand that some might wait until the last minute... BUT we live out in east hampton and so 2 out of my 3 registries you'd have to order it from to be shipped (and it probably wouldn't make it in time if you order it last minute). The 3rd registry of mine that people can drive to is 80% complete. So i'm getting a little nervous. And the one registry that no one is buying anything from is the one place i wish they would!

Re: registry questions for you
most people waited till the last minute for my engagement party and also bought me gift cards. because now i'm dealing with the planning, i'm gonna wait until the last minute every time just so its a 'surprise' of what i get them cause i know i always check my registry!! around the party, i was checking it like every couple of hours haha

Re: registry questions for you
i actually just read in a bridal magazine that a poll was taken and most people polled said they wait until 2 days before a wedding to buy a gift. so i'm assuming the same would apply to showers/engagement parties, etc.

but i am worried! 2 of the 3 registeries you'd have to order from online and i doubt people are going to pay extra to have it shipped overnight or 2 day air.
I don't want weird ugly things that they picked for me because they waited until the last minute and the 1 registry that they can pick something up at the store is 80% completed!!!
