LET'S MAKE A LIST OF WAYS YOU CAN PERSONALIZE YOUR WEDDING

I love when weddings are personal to the couple. Some ideas we have are:

1) FH playing a song on guitar with our band;
2) we're having a signature drink;
3) We're putting framed photos of our parents weddings & grandparents weddings on the entryway table;
4) The cocktail hour food we selected (i.e. Italian) has meaning (my family is Italian) and we're going to frame little words about why we chose what we chose; and
5) my FSIL is a photographer and is making our table #s.

Does anyone have or have they seen any additional ways to personalize the reception?

Not sure yet. She wanted to superimpose numbers on closeups of our foreheads...! I don't think we're going to do that though.

We're still discussing. She may just make #s out of stuff and take pictures of that, or take pictures of different #s she sees around NYC (where she lives) or take pictures of us as a couple with #s...?

DH and I wrote personal notes to each one of our guests. Not thank you notes...but more how special it was to have each person there, and shared a favorite memory we had of them. People were very touched and blown away that we spent so much time on it.

Our favors (Christmas ornaments) were also filled with potpourri that we made from all of the roses DH and I exchanged in our relationship (pics in DIY album).

We did some other things as well...photos of our deceased family members, etc. We also had a very personal mass with many family members/friends involved in some way (ie uncle was deacon, mass offered for those closest to us who had died, etc).

We programmed every song at our reception, it was all background music so people could talk if they wanted to and then...

had a casino for entertainment (poker, blackjack, cr@ps, roulette)

Chocolate colored Aisle runner (everyone mentioned - it's NOT white!)

Ceremony decor: vases I painted to match my theme to line the aisles, had a mahogany arbor built to be married under, I bought pots of mums & grasses (and brought them the morning of the wedding ) and had them put all around the arbor, candle chandelier for tent we were married in, tea lights hanging from the sides, ribbon curtain for behind the officiant

DH's sister played the flute instead of doing a 'reading'

Bathroom baskets

Coordinating guest towels in bathroom (from BB & B!)

I made wheat bundles for my centerpieces

Personalized barrel matches & cigars

My fall table numbers

I wore leopard shoes & red nail polish

All my BMs wore leopard shoes

Hired the actual band that performs our first dance song to play it live

Cardbox with our pictures

Pumpkin votives & pumpkin vases (carved out mini-pumpkins)

Had a cake topper custom made of my cats

I'm probably forgetting stuff – I had a busy year!
