To the ladies of 2009....With love the 08'ers!!!!

Ok since 2008 is almost over…I take this time to write to you girls, the 09’ers!!!! Your year is almost here. In a little over a week you girls will start getting married!!!!!!! I hope we can all give you the best advice and experiences on our day to help with your special day!!!!!!!!

The best advice I can give..

1. Don’t worry about the weather…IT’S THE ONE THING YOU CAN’T CONTOL AND PROBABLY THE LAST THING YOU’LL NOTICE!!! It was crappy on my day, but I was so wrapped up in the emotion of the day, that I could seriously care less about the weather.

2. If its within your budget..GET A VIDEOGRAPHER! I was so happy we did! As much as you think you’ll “take it all in” unfortunately the day goes very fast and there are things you will miss and things that will go unnoticed!

3. Spend some alone time with your new husband! After all it’s your big day and the one reason you threw the wedding in the first place. We did this during the beginning of cocktail hour and we were so happy we did. It really gave us a chance to connect as husband and wife and just made the day that much more special.

4. Don’t sweat the small stuff…Its not worth it anyway. What’s most important is that you are marrying the one true love of your life. After the wedding..what matters is YOUR MARRIAGE..not what went wrong the day of.

5. Take it all in! The day goes so fast! So just stop for a minute to take everything around you in. Its really nice to see how all of your planning comes together!

6. Understand that you probably already have or will find out who your true friends are.(unfortunately a wedding brings out a side in people you may have never seen).

7. Don't worry about things going wrong! You can't control them, and thats not whats important anyway. I was a stressed mess the week of my wedding (a bad car accident helped that) but I wish I would have relaxed more and enjoyed the last few days leading up to my wedding day. So take time the last few days before your wedding to relax and really enjoy the anticipation (that in a few days, you will be getting married)!!!!!

Girls its almost your year………..So ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF IT! Believe it or not. It will seriously fly..and you’ll wake up to the morning of your wedding! I cannot wait to see you on the newlywed board! Congrats!!!!

In all the confusion and excitement for the day! Take your DH (by than he will be) and go in room for a moment soak it all in and spend a quite moment together.. it goes by very fast remeber to enjoy every moment!!!

Don't get streesed over the small stuff no matter what your menu looks like or what guests back out, its your day and it will be a wonderful one followed by a wonderful marriage!

Good Luck Ladies have a great day!!! Share lots of pics with us!

Just enjoy it, take it all in! After all of your hard work you will want to enjoy every second of it! It goes by so quick, so just enjoy it!!

Look at your RH empty with your DH. The room will be filled with all the details you put together and is amazing! take it in before the crowds come.

Don't let the little things get to you.

Enjoy your day! I know you will all look gorgeous!!!

-DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE WEATHER!!!!! Its natural to want a beautiful day but theres nothing we can do about it!! You can still get beautiful pics in the rain/snow.

-Take a moment with your DH to look around and just take it all in. We did this while we were sitting and eating.

-DANCE!!! DH & I HATEEEEE dancing. That night, the only time we sat down was to eat. We were up dancing the whole night. BIL couldn't believe I was up dancing and didnt have one drink!

-Make sure family/friends take photos too, esp. of your DIY stuff. Just in case!!! I learned the hard way.

-Try not to separate from your DH. We didnt leave eachothers side the whole night.

-Leading up to the wedding is stressful. Just try to stay calm and relax.

Most importantly--HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS YOUR WEDDING NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck to all of you!!! Look forward to seeing everyones pics!!!

Re: To the ladies of 2009....With love the 08'ers!!!!

Great post, Kristin!!!

I agree with the weather post!!! Nothing you can do or say will change it. Weather is weather. Don't look at the 15 day forcast and complain that it is set to rain on your day. They only time you can trust the weather is the morning of your wedding and I garauntee you that by that point, you won't care if it's monsooning.

Also, don't worry about anyone else on that day except for you and your husband. Always try to stay within 5 feet of each other, enjoy each other, dance with one another, holds hands, kiss... IT IS YOUR DAY!!! Don't let the photogs, the matre'd, the bridal attendants or anyone tell you what to do.

And lastly, as Kristin mentioned, stop every hour or so and look around the room... look at people eating, dancing, taking pictures and know that each and every one of those people is there because they love you and support you and want to share in the most joyous days of your lives. Dance with them, eat with them and be merry with them. We didn't go around to any tables at the reception (we did that at the cocktail hour) and MIL was so upset that people would be hurt if we didn't make our way around the reception... well, we were on the dance floor all night and all of the tables were empty b/c everyone was dancing with us and after the fact MIL said, 'wow, you guys had everyone dancing, i guess i was wrong about going from table to table.'

Good luck girls and enjoy your year. It goes very, very quickly!

YAY 09ers!!!! Congrats!!! Your time is almost here!!!

The main thing I can say is that the day WILL fly. I didn't really believe it when others said it, but boy, were they right! DH and I swore that we'd sit down and eat everything they served, and that we'd hit up every table and chat with our guests... yeah, neither of those things happened!!!

Take a minute and sit back with your new DH and just look around at all the guests that are there for YOU - to celebrate your love and happiness. It is such a high!!!

Everyone says it, but don't sweat the small stuff, or the things that are out of your control! I am usually the type who flips out about every little thing, but that day, nothing phased me at all! Granted, I had a Xanax in me, but I am sure that had nothing to do with it

Most of all, just ENJOY your day!!! Dance like you've never danced before, and try to stay linked to DH at all times! The only time I let my DH away from me was when he went outside to smoke We held hands everywhere we went and it just helped us feel so connected.

CONGRATS 09ers!!! We cannot wait to welcome you on the NW boards!

Re: To the ladies of 2009....With love the 08'ers!!!!

It is an exciting time (leading up to and the day of). Just try and enjoy it all -- even with the stress that a marriage/wedding bring.

Ok I know you have heard this a million times and will hear a million times more but NO ONE can prepare for how fast the day goes.

SMILE -- A LOT. I had a smile on my face all day and people noticed.

Congratulations and Good Luck!

XANAX

That little pill was my best friend on the days leading up to the wedding, and I took one the day of, also, which kept me calm, cool and collected!

Re: To the ladies of 2009....With love the 08'ers!!!!

1. If you are seeing your FH before the ceremony you are VERY LUCKY.....DH and I spent almost the entire day together and some of our best memories and moments from the day was during that time....it did not take ANYTHING away from our ceremony....my DH cried when i walked down the aisle and he cried during our vows and so did i- so trust me, it didn't take anything away from those moments, they were still incredible and special....we were together for almost 6 hours before our ceremony (and it was AWESOME) plus 6.5 hours for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception - so when the wedding was over, we were READY for it to be over - we didn't feel rushed, and our wedding day felt LONG because we really got to enjoy the entire day together.....it was the best decision we made

2. Don't let anything upset you.....I heard this 1,000 times and I still let something upset me on my wedding day and it was so stupid and I can't believe that I let it get to me (although it still aggravates me to this day )....If I was upset for 15 minutes out of the 12+ hour day, it was still 15 minutes too long.....What get's me is ALL of our vendors did an amazing job and the one vendor who is our friend, who my DH works with all the time, he is the one who screwed something up go figure....but after the wedding we realized it was partly my DH's fault as well - our friends and family montage was messed up, missing lots of photos and i got really pissed and i tried to have the DJ fix it but he didn't even do that right..... it really wasn't worth getting so mad over....it didn't ruin our day at all but i still got really mad, maybe it was the alcohol who knows hahahaha....but for a few minutes I was screaming like a lunatic and I was really mad....don't let that happen to you.....let things go.......although DH and i joke about my outburst now in the scheme of things it was so minor and not worth getting annoyed at during our reception....

3. Enjoy your FH - one thing I will never understand is bride and grooms who don't spend the reception together - DH and I danced the entire night and we never left eachother's side....DANCE, PARTY, have fun.....I wish I could do it all over again and have even more fun, although I'm not sure its possible Try to enjoy your wedding like a guest, its hard to, but party, dance, be together, make memories!

4. WEAR COMFY SHOES - enough said

Congrats to all the '09ers!! This is your year!!

My advice would be:

1: Just enjoy the day and don't worry about all the little details......your day will be beautiful no matter what.

2: Don't worry about the weather, it will not take away from the beauty and love of your special day..you can't control it so don't stress over what you can't control.

3: Eat, drink and be merry!
