Hello- I have just gotten engaged and started looking for a RH. I am looking at Douglaston Manor, Russo's on the Bay, Coral House or possibly Roma View because their pricing is alot lower. Anyone have any reviews or advice about these places?

Welcome and congrats!!!! I do not have info on any other those RH. I did go to a wedding at Russos a few years ago and it was GREAT! you can sear and see what other brides have posted on here. IDK if there is an eaiser way to do it but what i do it click the magnifine(sp) glass is the upper right had corner and that open up a sear for the chats.

I had my eparty at Roma View...and it was fantastic. We worked with Eric and had a sit down dinner on a Friday night in April...the only drawback to Roma View is that there is 2 other parties besides yours going on at the same time...not sure if you are comfortable with that. For Ex: there was a sweet 16 the night of my epart and there was teenyboppers running around all over the place (which kind of annoyed me- and everyone shares the same bathroom)- so that is somthing to think about.
We had my junior prom at the coral house...and I wasnt crazy about it...but it might be different for a prom then a wedding.
Douglaston Manor- I think its beautiful- but have never tasted the food there.
Russos: Great but when I went there to look I wasn't thrilled with the customer service and just went there...the food was good though
Good Luck

ITA! I'm a Coral House bride too and I have nothing but good things say about them.!!!The food tastes great and the rooms have a very warm and romantic feel. Also the managers really do their best to work with you like Deanna said. Which ever place you choose good luck and enjoy planning

Welcome to the boards and congratulations on your engagement!!!
Russo's is great...never a bad review
Douglaston Manor - really nice. They have bridal showcases everymonth where they invite their vendors and have a mock cocktail hr for guests. Its a great trial run. I think its best if you go yourself to taste the food etc. Also...the cake was great. The bakery they use was really good.
Coral House...been there a couple of times and was always good...pretty.
Did you look at Swan Club?

the most expensive out of all of those is russos. In my opinion, a wedding at russos doesnt compare to any of those, russos goes all out with their weddings/service/food douglaston and coral house is beautiful but more low key then russos roma im sorry i havent heard of that place

I agree with what most of the girls are saying here about Russo's being the best...That being said, I know you said you didn't want to become more indecisive by looking at more places, but I feel that there are some places on Long Island where you will pay the same (or less) than Russo's and have AMAZING grounds. I looked on the island first, and after the first day FH and I both said as great as Russo's is we didn't even want to look there because it just wasn't as pretty and it wasn't one event at a time. And it is really great there!

Hello all. I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Dina and I am getting married at Russo's on the Bay on February 12, 2010. My fiance and I are so excited and have had nothing but the most pleasurable experience with Russo's thus far. It is a first class establishment all the way! I congratulate all the couples on their engagements and look forward to getting to know all of you!!!

Im partial to Russo's oone of the main reason we booked there was all of the amazing reviews!!! we felt like we were sure to get our moneys worth without a doubt!!!!!!!!
i havent been to the other places, but ihave heard good things about Roma, but its more low key i think, all those venues are so different it really depends on what your looking for i think, but I've heard nothing but the best about Russos

Re: Russo's, COral House, Roma, Douglaston?
FH actually used to work at Roma View... i'd say its good for an e-party.. shower.. etc... but i'm personally not too crazy about it for a wedding... they are a very popular catering hall in that area and there will without a doubt be other parties in the other two rooms.. & you would be sharing a common lobby and bathroom... just a few things to keep in mind.. but if those things don't bother you go for it.. i know a couple great people i can recommend that work there
OoOOo & i have been to a couple weddings at Russo's... that place is gorgeous!!
& i recently went to a Graduation party @ Douglaston Manor... very nice place and the food was pretty good too
good luck hunting
are you open to venturing out into Long Island?? a lot of great places that arent too far out
