2 stupid comments...2 days in a row!

A VERY STUPID co-worker who was at my wedding, and is in an interfaith relationship, just commented to me on our ceremony.

She has been dating this guy for 3 years...all the while fully aware of the fact that she will never marry him because she can't get over the religious differences. Although he is ready to marry her and has no issues with anything. So they come to my wedding, a beautiful interfaith service, where both sides were represented fairly...with no shoveling anything under rugs. The name Jesus was spoken, Moses was spoken...a Gospel was said and responded to, Jewish and Catholic traditions upheld.

Anywho I asked her how she and her BF handled it together (meaning does she think they could do it) and she says 'I don't know how you let them say Jesus there, that was so disrespectful of everyone and I was insulted for the jews there, didn't you feel insulted?'.

OY VEY I've had enough of this crap already!

Why is the word 'jesus' disrespectful? Jesus does not equal Satan, or even worse, any of the choice cursewords!!! ***

EXACTLY! That...and HE WAS JEWISH! LOL.

Remind her that Jesus WAS Jewish!

See its people like them who miss their blessings, that pay way too much attention to the insignificant things. Don't pay the fools no mind you hear. Why should it concern her, when the 2 people who are affected the most was happy Oy Vey indeed. She must be so darn uncomfortable in her own skin that she needs company to be uncomfortable with her Like I told you yesterday, don't let anyone steal your joy.

Shamma.....you have an amazing way of knowing EXACTLY what people are like. This HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD!!

She's a struggling singer, using this poor guy that is madly in love with her to further her career. He's basically funding and recording her demo, and she sees the relationship as necessary right now. I feel horrible for this guy!!

My response was a bit of a mess because I was so put off, but in not so many words I told her 'how could I be uncomfortable when I WAS THE ONE BEING MARRIED and it was ALL MY CHOICE?'. She saw my entire family included extended STAND UP during the gospel out of respect for FH's family...and she's going to tell me anyone was INSULTED???

Sometimes it's just too hard to get into the details of religious conflict with someone who is completely closed minded.....and she is completely closed minded!

Another one of Shamma's comments made my heart jump...'See its people like them who miss their blessings, that pay way too much attention to the insignificant things.'...the Priest who co-efficiated (who also happens to be Theresa's Priest) said this from the very beginning...and this very statement is the reason why DH and I made it to the altar. Shamma...you need to start writing a book or counseling!

People can be sooooooooo insensitive! I'm in an interfaith marriage so I know exactly what you mean!

Hey, if it makes you feel any better:
A girl from my job who I thought was my friend, came to my wedding. I come to find out 2 days after my wedding that she told a good friend that she didn't even want to go - that she just keeps saying yes to all weddings so people will come to hers when it's her turn - huh? Are you that desperate for friends???????

Hang in there...it's easier to weed people out of your lives when they make comments like that!

Shamma - I agree, you do need to write a book, or do some counseling (sp). You always seem to know the right things to say, and you say them so well!!!

I really feel some of the nicest ceremonies I have been to have been Jewish/Catholic. It is so beautiful to bring both faiths together and to have the traditions from both represented in your ceremony and your life to come!!!
